Chapter One: "New Start"

"Were here," my uncle suddenly shouts, throwing me out of my day dream. I rip my headphones out of my ears and look up at our new house. My new home. That feels strange to even think. I've only ever lived in one place my whole life, but that wasn't my home anymore.

We decided to move here to get a new start. My parents died a year ago, and my uncle Clark graciously took me in, since I had no one else.

"Wow, this is amazing," I pause before adding, "and really creepy," I finish as I tilt my head up to take in the whole house. It had to be over a hundred years old, which meant it was probably haunted. This realization makes me sick to my stomach.

I saw ghosts, ever since the accident. They've haunted my dreams and my life. They terrify me. They always want help to cross over or find there loved ones, but I'm never able to really help them nor do I think I want to.

"Are you ok?" My uncle asks, concern masking his face.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just zoned out and thought about mom and dad," I say trying to hide my discomfort.

Taking in my uncle's face I know I've made him feel bad, which he shouldn't. He did nothing wrong. Of course he thought the death of his sister and brother-in-law was because of him. It wasn't... It was me.

That night in the car could have been avoided. I had left my phone at the school after my drama performance and made my parents go back to get it.

They turned the car back around. As we were making our way back to the school, a driver came out of no where. It all happened so fast. The next thing I knew, I was waking up in the hospital a month and a half later.

A few hours after that, the doctor told me my parents were gone. Of course it didn't sink in at first, and I demanded to know where they were. Later on, I had to come to terms with the fact that I would never see my parents again. Ever since then, I've seen ghosts. None of them, ironically, were my parents.

So here I am, with my Uncle who was kind enough to take me in. We had to move because I was having trouble in my old school. Do you know how hard it is to concentrate when there are ghosts begging you to help them? I have enough problems of my own, I don't need them making my life even harder.

Uncle Clark said it was time for a new start. Now I look up at my new house, and all I can feel is this energy that I can't explain.

"Go find your new room, I'll let you pick!" My uncle tells me as he starts removing stuff from the truck we had to rent for all of our stuff. We really didn't have much, and we decided to sell most of my parents old things because we had to be realistic. We didn't want to bring too much to start our new lives.

I decide to take my uncle up on his offer, and run into the house. I run up to find the nicest, biggest room. I don't even stop to look at the surroundings of my new house.

I manage to hunt done the one I want. It's amazing, but it looks like the former owners didn't take everything when they left. The room gives off the appearance of a boy.

I set down my backpack on the bed, which is currently occupied with a blue comforter. There's a layer of dust on everything. I can't wait to get my things unpacked and dust everything.

"Achoo!" A sneeze erupts through my whole body. I hate dust.

"Bless you," I whip my body around, frightened by the male voice I just heard.

There standing by the window is a guy seeming to be around my age. I get that bubbly feeling in my stomach when ever there's a ghost around.

Any chance I thought of starting a normal life here goes up in flames. I should have known this house would come with unwanted guests.
