The First Step

[3rd POV]

Lukas opens his eyes with a groan. The morning light blinding him momentarily as he sits up. Lukas pops his neck and stretches awake. Taking in a deep breath he looks to his right and sees some students in the throes of waking up, others packing their things, and the rest talking amongst themselves again waiting to start the day. Lukas gives a tired yawn as he turns his head to left. He is met with the concerned look of Ruby Rose... and one slightly ticked off Yang Xiao Long right in his face. Lukas recoils in shock with the resulting adrenaline rush waking him up completely. Lukas grasps where his heart as he takes a few deep breathes. 

Lukas: "Yang, don't do that! You're gonna give me a heart attack!"

Yang: "Sorry, but we've been trying to wake you up for the past couple minutes. You feeling, okay?"

Lukas: "Yeah, I'm okay. Why do you ask?"

Ruby: "Well... you were mumbling in your sleep and moving around a bit."

Lukas: "Oh... well sorry if I made you girls worry."

Lukas got off from his bed doing a couple more stretches and letting out a few more yawns. After putting the bedding that he was provided away. He picked it up and walked over to the ballroom door. On the way he waved over to Weiss, who had a small case of morning hair, and she waved back half awake. Lukas set down his bedding by the door and walked back over. Looking over to his left he could see an orange haired girl being super energetic and waking up a boy, who also wore his clothing like he did. He had black hair with a single pink stripe in it. Lukas thought it was nice flair to his look. When he got back to the spot Lukas noticed Yang talking to Ruby, in a very hushed manner. They noticed Lukas and stopped talking to each other. Ruby had a sad look on her face, while Yang had a concerned look in her eyes. Lukas sleepily waved to the two, but they gave him no response, so he just grabbed his pack and sword then walked away.

Lukas: 'I wonder if they feel uncomfortable after what happened last night...'

Lukas walked out of the ballroom feeling bad about himself. While he was in the hallway, he took out his Jedi cloak and swung it over his body. Pulling the hood over his head he notices the duo he noticed from earlier making their way further down the hallway. The redhead still somehow had a ton of energy skipping next to the boy who was wearing a green suit of cultural design. Kinda reminded Lukas of his own Jedi robes. He listens to what the girl was saying.

Redhead: "So Ren~♪! I was thinking that we could get some breakfast! I heard that they're serving pancakes to all of us!"

Judging that I had nowhere else to go and not feeling entirely concrete with Ruby and Yang at the moment. Lukas decided to just follow them through the school. Once they reach the cafeteria Lukas took it all in a second. Some of the other first years were eating at a few of the tables, but the place was so massive that it seemed like there was hardly anyone here. Lukas shook out of his thoughts. He noticed the trays grabbing one off of the stack. Following the line, he was met with the smiling faces of ladies serving food to everyone. Before Lukas was a rather large quantity of pancakes, but there were other items to choose from such as eggs, cereal, and soup with some meat bits and diced vegetables floating on the top. 

Serving Lady: "And what can I get you young man? Would you care for some pancakes?"

Lukas: "Thank you, but not today. I'll just take some of that soup please."

The serving lady nods getting Lukas a bowl of the soup. She also put a small loaf of bread on Lukas's tray next to the bowl. He bows in thanks to the kind woman and leaves the line. Lukas walked over to one of the empty tables further into the cafeteria and took a seat. Lukas took a small taste of the soup he received making his eyes sparkle a bit.
