As soon as the words left her lips, all eyes were on me.

"Mattie, come here." Aria said softly.

I nearly tripped going on stage, which caused snickers and little laughs to run through the audience.

"Since you're my mate and I'm the Alpha, that means you're also the Alpha."

My ears were ringing at this point. If you couldn't tell, I despised being put in the spotlight.

"So you have to engrave the symbol into your arm as well." She spoke softly and slowly, as to make sure I understand what was happening.

My arms felt like lead as Aria held the knife out to me. I took it and stared at the blade flecked with blood from previous ceremonies.

'You don't remember what the symbol looked like do you?'

'No I don't.' I snapped at him. I heard him whimper a bit. 'Look. Just show me what it looks like.'

He flashed the small symbol and my blood ran cold.

'That's what was on Dad's arm.' I said softly.

'I know.' He replied wearily.

Hesitantly, I made the first cut and winced.
'This blade is dull. This is going to hurt.' I told myself.

Slowly, I carved the large symbol onto my forearm. It curved all around my arm, and soon I was dripping blood and ready to pass out from dizziness.

I felt Aria lift my arn up and heard the crowd roar.

I looked at her glowing face and blacked out.

"WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU NOT IN BED YET?" My father screamed at 10 year old me. I trembled in fear as tears pricked at my eyes. "DON'T CRY YOU LITTLE BITCH. NOW GET TO FUCKING BED."

He raised his muscular arm and a large symbol flashed. I stared at it with curiosity for a split second before he struck my face.

My face stung and I knew it was going to leave another handprint. Which meant more questions, more stares, more whispers and another reminder of how worthless I was.

"Y-yes father." I stuttered weakly.

"I SAID TO CALL ME DADDY." He corrected, his green eyes harder than steel and filled with drunken anger.

"Y-yes daddy." I sputtered, finding the floor more interesting than looking at him.

"Look at me." My father's deep voice said softly and demanding.

I meekly looked up and saw him smile. It wasn't one of those 'I'm-proud-of-what-and-who-you-are' smiles, it was the 'You're-going-to-suffer-and-I'm-going-to-enjoy-it' smiles. The kind you see in your nightmares or in scary movies.

He wore a Chelsea-esque grin, sending shivers up my spine. Pure cold fear and terror ran through my veins.

He took a step forward, as I took a step back.

"Now now Mathias. No need to be afraid. It'll be quick." He rumbled as he grabbed my arm.

My eyes widened in terror as I heard him speak again.

"Mathias."

I furrowed my brows.

"Mathias." He spoke in a repetitive tone, it getting louder and louder and more urgent each time.

"Mathias."

"Mathias."

"MATHIAS."

I jolted up with cold sweat beading around my hairline.

"Mathias. Thank the Lord you're okay!" Aria exclaimed as she threw her small arms around me in relief.

I hesitantly hugged her back, but hissed when a sharp pain ran up my left arm.

She let go and faced me, with tears in her eyes. I wanted to wipe them away so badly.
What happened?" I asked in confusion.

"After you finished engraving the Alpha symbol onto your arm, you passed out. Xavier and I took you the infirmary, and then you started mumbling things."

"What kind of... things? Or do I dare ask?"

"It's nothing bad. Just a little...odd." She said nervously.

I looked at her expectantly.

"You were mumblings things like 'I'm sorry.' Or 'Yes daddy.' Not sexually. On the last part I mean." A blush spread across her face.

"Oh." I frowned.

'Shit.'

'Shit is right. Now she probably thinks A.) You're secretly gay. Or B.) You have a daddy kink.'

"Do you have some sort of..." Aria trailed off.

"Some sort of what?" I asked, expecting what my wolf told me.

"Daddy kink?" She whispered, her face beet red.

I laughed bitterly. "No. It was from a nightmare."

"Nightmare?" She asked concernedly.

"Don't worry about it." I said a bit sharper than I intended to.

"Sorry." She whispered.

I sighed.

"Don't worry about it."

There's a little look into what happened in dear Mattie's past.

The image is what the Alpha symbol looks like.

I don't know what it is, it's just a random design I found on the Internet. Of course, all credit goes to the artist.

Am I doing alright with this book?
