Readers POV
My eyes shot open to the sounds of screaming. I tried to sit up but the cut on my stomach didn't allow me to do so.
"Will?" I try to get his attention. No response.
"Will?" I speak louder.
I pull myself up from my bed with all the strength I have and stumble up onto my feet. I look to the empty air bed on the floor.
I carry myself out of the room and lean against the wall for support. I walk towards the cries, which slowly lead me to another bedroom.
I clutch my stomach whilst my hand trailed along the wall to keep myself standing up right.
I look in to see Will standing outside the door. "Will," he turns to see me standing there leant up against the wall.
"What's going on?" I walk closer to see what's going on inside the room.
I look through the door to see El in tears on the bed laying into Joyce's embrace. Max sits beside her rubbing her arm whilst Mike stands there looking worried.
I hobble along through the door and sit on the bed next to Max. I hold Eleven's hand and squeeze it which she returns.
"What did you see?" I ask her.
"I saw the gate, and Papa," She breaks down once more and Joyce holds her close.
I look down and fiddle with the plaid shirt that covered my arms. "It's my fault," I confess.
Max places her hand on my shoulder, "hey don't beat yourself up about this it's not your fault," she tries to comfort me.
I shrug her hand away. I don't want her pity, it is my fault and I am going to take responsibility for it. It's my fault and I am not going to let people try and make me feel less bad.
I did this, the consequences are my own. This is my punishment for doing it and I will take it. I have put many people in pain. It's my fault and nobody else is going to take the blame for me.
"No Max it is, it is my fault. I know it is and don't try and tell me it's not because it is. This is my responsibility, and you have all been great which I am thankful for. But this is my mess that I made. So I'm going to have to clean it up." I stand from the bed and make my way to the kitchen for some water.
I take a glass next to the sink and rinse it out before taking a sip. Leaning against the counter as I do so, I held my head in my hands trying to think of a way to fix the mess I made.
"Hey you okay?" I look up to see Jonathan standing against the hallway wall.
"Yeah just thinking that's all."
He sits down at the dining room table and gestures for me to sit on the seat next to him which I take.
"What were you thinking about?"
"Well... The gate is still open. So I thought it would be better for me to go back there," I explain.
"You think you could close it?" He questions his hands now interlocking with each other as he leans forward.
"Close what?" I hear a girl's voice sound from where Jonathan had previously come from.
"The gate," I inform her.
She comes and joins us at the table sitting in-between Jonathan and I.
"You wanna close it?" She raises an eyebrow at me.
"Yeah exactly, Eleven has already done it before but you saw her she can't go back there. Besides Papa is still there and I can't put her through that again. It's best if I do it." Most would look to me as if I was crazy, or that they would try to stop me. But these two, they seem to understand and be on board with my plan.
