The bell rang. Last period. Daylon thought. Typical day at Genericville Middle School. Little did he know, that afternoon everything would change.
Forty-five minutes later, the bell rang again. He met up with Zach just outside. They walked home from school together. Had done so every day for the four years they had been at the school for.
"Hey dude." Zach said, "You gotta come to my house today. I think I made a huge discovery." So Daylon followed Zach to his house. It felt like Zach made a "huge discovery" every other week. He was, to be honest, so focused on science that Daylon was really his only friend. But Daylon listen to Zach every time, but every time, no matter what, Zach had either had no real evidence or no way to prove his discovery.
When they got to Zach's house, Daylon was led into Zach's lab (a shared office between his family) where Zach began to explain his experiment.
Zach drew a dot on his whiteboard. "That dot," he said, "represents Earth." Then he drew about five more dots. "And those dots represent alternate universe to our own." He drew another dot. "That dot represents the Opposite Earth."
"Opposite Earth?" asked Daylon
"Opposite Earth. It's a place full of a race of humans led by some leader who I can't find the name of yet. I call the race 'The Reverse.' The Reverse have conquered all of these other dots. I still don't know how they did it, but I'm going to try to figure it out." Zach had a very serious look on his face. He turned back to Daylon. "So what do you think?"
"What do I think?" said Daylon, "I think you're crazy. You need to let these crazy discoveries go. Last week you claimed your dog talked to you!"
"I still can't figure that one out. I'll get back to you on that."
"DUDE! You're crazy. You need help."
This would have hurt anyone else, but Zach was used to people calling him crazy or laughing at his discoveries. Nobody ever believed him.
Daylon left Zach's house, deciding to cut through the woods to get to his own house. As he was walking, he heard his name being called. Daylon... the voice whispered. Daylon decided to follow it. He walked into a Stonehenge-like structure that he had never seen before. Walking into the center, he noticed a circle was drawn into it.
As soon as he stepped in, the portal opened.
