Steve Rogers had read the brief on Loki and only understood the two important bits of information: Brother of Thor and hell-bent on taking over the Earth. What he saw perfectly aligned with the second bit. He had made copies of himself and had forced a group of people all on their knees before him. Treating them all like trash.

He saw an older man in the back stand up to him, he was saying something but Steve was currently too far away to make out the words. But he was closing fast. He'd been working out non stop yet it felt good to run again in uniform and in public. It made him reminisce of the old days where he'd been paraded through the streets to promote the war. It wasn't a fond memory.

The copy of Loki that Steve identified as the real one raised his staff and aimed it at the older man. He didn't have to be a rocket scientist to know what happened next. With more effort, he pushed himself harder and was barely able to intercept the blast with his vibranium shield.

Slowly he stood and the people around him gaped and awed. "The last time I saw a man standing above everyone else, he and I disagreed."

"The soldier, misplaced out of time." Loki slowly approached him. "I'm afraid you are out of time."

Without wasting another second, Steve threw his shield at Loki. The action surprised him enough that it was a clean blow. Yet the fight was far from over. The shield fell back into his arms and Steve pushed his advantage, giving the people time to clear out.

He was a better fighter than Steve had hoped, yet his only reason for fighting him was allowing other people to getaway. Each time Loki bested him in combat and threw him away Steve got back up and came right at him. He could do this all day.

At some point, Agent Romanoff, a friend of Fury, Steve knew, flew down in a futuristic helicopter. "Stand down Loki." Of course, neither of them knew he wouldn't, a second later he used the same staff to shoot a bolt of blue lighting towards her. She dodged it barely.

But the distraction gave him the necessary time to get back into the fight. Buying another fifteen seconds for people to get away before he was tossed aside again. Then a familiar voice filled his earpiece. The voice even sounded like his late father that Steve was proud of. "Did you miss me, Agent Romanoff?"

Two seconds later Tony Stark kicked Loki back and lined his weapons towards his chest. "Care to surrender?"

Loki threw his scepter away and made his armor vanish, slowly raising his hands. It was almost too easy.

"Good move." Tony Stark said beside him, disarming his weapons yet keeping a close eye on the God. "Captain."

"Mr. Stark." Although Steve was hardly paying attention to him, he kept his eyes closely on Loki and Thena behind him slowly walking towards the scene. She was damn beautiful, he couldn't help but admit, and way out of his league. Being over a hundred years old was usually a feat he could brag about to anyone, yet to her, it was like a blink of existence.

She came up to the group of them and looked down on Loki. Her friend, Phastos, she had called him, was currently traveling across the country trying to track down the rest of her family. Preventing Loki from mind-controlling any more eternal. Thena decided to stick around to help SHIELD track Loki.

With a hand, Thena picked Loki up and held him by his throat. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you right now." A golden dagger materialized by her side and she pressed it against his rib cage. Tony raised his weapons and pointed them at her. Steve gave the motion to stand down and Tony reluctantly listened, not that Steve thought the weapons would bother her in the slightest.

She tossed him back like a rag doll and slowly moved upon him. Loki stood and stared her in the face. "I am Loki, Son of Odin, bow to me mortal." Although he no longer wore his armor, he was just a man in a suit.
