November 1949

Tom fixed his waistcoat as he weaved in and out of the dimly lit Knockturn Alley. He had finished work for the day and was in a rush to get to Malfoy Manor in time for a meeting with his Knights.  He sighed as he made his way onto the streets of London and surrounded himself with disgusting muggles. He internally grimaced before deciding to turn into a little coffee shop on the corner of the road. Tom sat by the frosted window as he waited when something caught his eye.

He squinted, peering through the snow as it fell past the window. Entering what looked to be an abandoned shop was a woman, carrying boxes. He looked around the shop and saw no one was paying attention and he subtly wiped the window to rid the condensation. Tom stared at this young woman, whom stuck out completely compared to the others who populated the street.

She was elegantly dressed, obviously the muggle style that was in. Her blonde hair was neatly pinned up on the back of her head. As the snow began to get heavier, she took off her scarf from around her neck and placed it around her head to protect her hair. Each movement was delicate and with purpose.

Tom hadn't realised how long he must have been staring for until he heard someone clear their throat from beside him. He snapped his head towards where the sound came from and noticed a man holding his mug of tea. Tom politely nodded and muttered his thanks and took the tea off of him. He placed his mug on the table and turned his attention back to the woman who was now sat inside, perched on a little chair, surrounded by boxes.

Tom quickly swigged down his tea and made his way out of the shop. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out his pack of cigarettes and placed one in his mouth. With a click of his fingers, the cigarette was lit. He stared through the window of the shop as the woman began unpacking. Her movements were mesmerising.

Tom stood there and stared while he finished his cigarette and realised he had places to be unfortunately.

He smirked, thinking to himself how he would be back tomorrow.
