                                                                                  Serena's POV:

I grew up living with my parents and my three younger sisters; Zoe, Mackenzie and Sylvia on the island of Lucella - a place where everyone except us and a few others is an anthropomorphic animal. At school, I was swarmed with them. Most would simply look at me as if I were an alien or something, some would shout mean, hurtful and rude comments to me, telling me that I didn't belong or I should move somewhere else. However, I never let those comments get to me and when I turned eighteen, I became a police officer alongside my parents. I became somewhat of a minor celebrity in the city, a hero, a saviour. My oldest sister after me, Zoe became a police officer as well.

Anyway, let's begin where my story started. And that place... was the bath. I was lying there, my brown curls brushing against the sides of the bathtub. As I applied conditioner to my hair, I could hear my twelve-year-old sister Mackenzie pounding on the door. "SERENA!!!!" she shouted, "ARE YOU DONE YET!?!?". I groaned and replied, "Almost!". I then heard Mackenzie huff and walk off. When I was finished, I wrapped a towel around my body and another around my hair and  stepped out of the bath. I opened the door, went to my room, changed into my uniform and looked at myself in the mirror. I was wearing a dark blue jacket on top of a white shirt, with dark grey trousers, black shoes, white socks and a police hat the same colour as the jacket. I also wore a silver badge with the the word 'LPD' (Lucella Police Department) engraved in the centre.

I held the round, metal object in my hand, before pinning it onto my jacket. I raced downstairs, passing my second youngest sister, Sylvia on the stairs. "Watch where you're going!" she called after her. I sped into the kitchen, where Zoe, mum and dad were already eating breakfast. "Morning, honey," said mum cheerfully, lifting her head away from her bowl of cereal. "Another day of hard work!" my dad chirped, ruffling my hair. I rolled my eyes playfully and sat next to Zoe. "Apparentally that Willow Wolf girl seems to have been tracked to that creepy alleyway next to the gallery," he continued, through a mouthful of jam - covered toast. I nodded. "She's been robbing stores in this area," my mum explained, showing us a map on her phone. "The gallery, Daisy's TV's, The Pie Store, you name it, she's stolen from it.". I grabbed a slice of toast from the middle and buttered it. "This Willow person has been causing a lot of trouble recently," I said, sliding the knife back to the centre. Just then, Sylvia, my 15 - year - old sister, walked in and sat beside mum. "I hate school," she moaned, crossing her arms grumpily. "Try going to work..." Zoe replied, making a lunge for the cheerios. Sylvia sighed and began spreading an immense amount of jam onto her toast. "But you get to go on cool adventures and take down baddies!" Sylvia cried, chewing on her breakfast. "It's not all fun stuff, darling," mum said, putting her arm on her daughter's shoulder, "A lot of it is waiting, filling out forms...". Sylvia yawned. "You lost me at waiting," she said, before heading back upstairs to get changed.

Like clockwork, as soon as Sylvia disappeared, Mackenzie came waltzing into the room. She looked suprisingly happy for a Monday morning. "Why are you so happy, Mac?" I asked, finishing my last scraps of toast. "Because Zee and Zuzy are coming over for a sleepover!" she squealed, doing some sort of strange, happy dance. "Anyway..." said mum, turning back to me, dad and Zoe, "You and Doggy have been assigned to find, arrest and lock Willow and her accomplice Rash up," I nodded, before turning to leave. "Where are you going?" asked dad. "Just to grab a milkshake with my friends,". Dad also nodded, as I walked out of the kitchen, through the front door and outside. I strolled down the gravelly path and out onto the pavement, my hair blowing slightly in the soft breeze. When I reached the milkshake place, my BFF, Elly and my other friend, Badgy were already there, sitting at one of the outside tables. "Hey, Serena!" Elly shouted, as she noticed me arriving. Badgy looked up, but didn't seem to really notice my presence. He looked paler than usual and only grumbled in response. His boss's wife, Mrs.P had fallen ill recently and Mr. P had been using every bit of his money to pay for researching a cure for her. This meant that Badgy's paycheck was getting lower and lower every month. I assumed this was why he looked so down. I bought a strawberry milkshake and sat oppsite Badgy, he seemed to be looking at me, but at the same, time, he was staring past me. I turned around to see what he was looking at. There it was - an advertisement. More importantly, an advertisement for cure. And more importantly still, there were seven slips and four had already been taken.

Oooooh! The sign - up sheet is up for the cure and four slips are missing! I wonder who took them? Why is Badgy acting weirdly?

This was my first chapter, I hope you liked it! Don't worry, soon the exciting stuff is going to happen! Stay tuned for the next chapter!
