There's notes at the end of the chapter
__________________________________Charlie was amazed by so many books that she had no time to think about how awkward the situation was.
She asked for help from an old lady and asked about a book for anatomy and how the human body works.
Patiently the lady guided Charlie to a specific bookshelf. She said Charlie could read at the tables that they had in the place and if she needed to bring the book home, she would have to make a library card. After explaining all that, the elder excused herself to go back to her table.
Charlie started looking, searching and getting a few books. She had a small pile of books on her arms and walked to one of the tables.
Charlie started her study to understand the human body. The more she learned about it, the more she understood it was very close to some of the anatomies of the people from her homeland. So, humans were very similar... Why was Alastor different about sexual desires?
That was something she couldn't find over the books she had in hands. Maybe it was just a matter of taste? A matter of being his first time?
Then something hit her... She was the same as him before her first time, one century ago... She never cared much about -that-, she never fooled around even in her rebel era. Which, by the books, had the same name as well, 'Puberty'. And she always was called weird for not being like that since it isn't normal to be like that in her homeland.
She just... Should be patient with him; after all, once she was the same as him. Maybe talk to him about it? When the right moment comes, of course. One thing Charlie didn't pay attention to was that it was already late. The elder lady came to Charlie.
"Darling, we will close in a few minutes." She smiled kindly.
"Oh okay! I'm sorry-" Charlie said a little flustered. "I didn't see the hours passing!"
"It happens a lot here when we have a good adventure in the world of books." The elder giggled.
"Yes, that's true." Charlie giggled as well and got up. "I will put those back and-" she was about to get the pile when the lady placed her hand over it.
"Don't worry, it's getting late and I can take care of it tomorrow morning. It's dangerous for a young woman like you to walk alone if it gets late." The lady took Charlie by her hand and guided her to the entrance of the library.
"But how about you? Are you okay going back to your home alone? I can make you company!" Charlie smiled and the lady laughed.
"Oh, I appreciate it, dear, but I live right across the street. Don't worry about me, just go." The lady opened the door for Charlie and smiled. "Hope you found what you were looking for."
"I did, thank you. Have a goodnight!" Charlie bowed a bit leaving the building.
"Goodnight, dear!" The lady waved and closed the door, going back inside to turn off the lights and close the windows.
Charlie was excited with her sudden epiphany. So, she wasn't bothering him, maybe he was truly more alike than she thought, and he was just not used to it yet. As she arrived at his house, she knocked, she didn't pay attention to the lights coming from the window, they looked weaker than normal.
"Al? It's me!" She said and she had a reply right away.
"It's open, dear." He said from a distance.
As she entered, the living room was lit just by candles. The table was set and music was playing in the background. She widened her eyes seeing all of it. Was it some kind of joke?
