Song: Darlin' by houndmouth
~third person POV~

"Hey Kuroo!" Y/n called with a smile.
"Oh, hey! When's the meteor shower gonna start?" He asked.
"Should be about an hour and a half, we could go grab boba first!" She beamed.
"Sounds like a plan." Kuroo followed after the girl who was already a few paces ahead of him, though he couldn't get his mind of of the phone call he'd had with kenma last night.

"Kuro why are you calling me this late?"
Kenmas voice sounded annoyed from the other end, practically murderous.

"Okay we both know fully well that you were already up playing videogames. Anyways, you know the girl I told you about?"

Kenma gave a sigh, deciding not to just hang up on his friend right then.
"Y/n right? What about her?"

"Yep! She asked me on a date! Well I think it's a date.., I'm like 80% sure it's a date!"

"Really? How'd she ask?"  He actually sounded interested, quite a change from kenmas high school self.

"She asked if I was free to come watch a meteor shower with her, I asked her if anyone else was coming and she said it would just be the two of us." Kuroo happily explained.

Though Kenma didn't reply right away, rather he gave a soft hum.
"What was that for?"

"Kuro... are you sure it's a date? I mean you told me she was popular but didn't have all that many close friends. Maybe she didn't have anyone else to go with?"

After that conversation, kuroo couldn't very well treat this as a date until he knew it was one.
As far as he was concerned, this was just two friends hanging out for the night.
After finishing boba, y/n and kuroo headed to watch the meteor shower. Y/n proudly claimed that she knew a perfect spot.
Things seemed rather normal, which led kuroo to believe she really didn't intend it to be a date.

The sun slowly set while they walked, bathing them in a gentle array of pink and orange light.
While walking, they stumbled upon a stray cat. Kuroo smiled and knelt down to pet it. While y/n simply stared at him with a soft smile... the cat ran away and kuroo looked in y/n's direction, giving her a slight smirk. "What are you staring at?"

She didn't answer his question though. Instead, she asked one of her own.
"What do you see in me? I mean outside of my talents? Why do you stay around..?" She asked, staring down at the floor.
Kuroo stood back up, his expression changing...
"Who knows? Maybe I'm just in love with you."
'You have the saddest expression on your face, why is that?'
"I'm kidding, don't worry." Kuroo turned his back on her and started to walk away... "we should get to the spot before the meteor shower starts." He mumbled
Kuroo found himself frozen as her hand grabbed his from behind. He could feel the weight of her head resting against his back.

"Why do you always have to play things off as a joke? I want an honest answer. Please, Kuroo."

He was silent for a while, almost long enough to make her give up hope.
"I stay around you because I fell in love the moment I saw you. And I fall even further with everything you do."
Kuroo felt her head leaving his back, her hand slipping from his. he knew she didn't feel the same way, if only he kept his mouth shut... things could have stayed normal.

Tears stung at his eyes, but he wouldn't let himself cry. Not here, not now. He just shut his eyes tightly for the time being, until he felt a cold hand against his cheek. His eyes fluttered open to see the face he grew to love so deeply that it hurt. She had a gentle, loving smile.
"That was quite poetic, Tetsurou. Maybe we should give writing a try."
"Can I kiss you?" His question was abrupt, it almost sounded desperate. But the question had been running through his mind so long, it was about time he finally asked. "Not if i kiss you first." She joked, pressing her lips softly against his.

The meteor shower that night was beautiful. for anyone else who saw it, it would have been the highlight of their day. But for the two of you that wasn't the case, the thing that stuck out about that day, the thing that would remain in both of you're minds for as long, or as short as you lived, was that kiss.
