It's nearing the 3-year anniversary of the accident that gave him his ghost powers and Danny Fenton has barely scratched the surface of what he can do. Over time, his control has grown stronger, and he has mastered every new ability thrown his way. Whether it's apparent within his improved agility and stamina during fights, precision aiming of his ectoblasts, his ability to duplicate, or the intensity of his ghostly wail, ghosts and humans alike have watched the young superhero become the most powerful ghost around.

Fights between Phantom and other ghosts didn't last nearly as long as they used to, now finishing in a matter of minutes. Those that ended up fighting the ghost-boy would barely get their 2 cents in before being swiftly pummeled and sucked into the Fenton Thermos.

Danny's physical attributes also didn't go unchanged. Many students and other Amity Park residents noticed a change in the youngest Fenton's physique as he went from scrawny to extremely toned and fit.

His control was much stronger than before, so much so that he'd even mastered using his powers whilst still in his human form. This also helped when he was unable to 'go ghost' and he could defeat whatever threat came his way inconspicuously as Fenton.

One thing he didn't expect to master, however, was his ability to maintain his ghost half, even while asleep or unconscious. This obviously came in handy whenever he'd be in a fight and would get knocked out as to not reveal his secret identity to any onlookers. What he didn't prepare himself for was the possibility of forgetting to change back to Fenton after a long night of dealing with ghosts.

It had all started after a long day at school when Danny came home to his parents tinkering with the portal. They had shut it off in an attempt to create a better system of alerts for when ghosts would escape into the human world.

All Danny wanted to do was grab something to eat and take a nap before going on patrol with Sam and Tucker later and seeing as the portal was 'out of service' for the evening, he thought maybe he wouldn't even need to go on patrol and just hang out with his friends.

He made his way to the kitchen, trying to find something that wasn't contaminated by ectoplasm before settling on a banana from the fruit bowl, far away from any sort of ectoplasmic contamination. The noises in the lab ceased and he heard his father yell up to him.

"Jazz, is that you?"

"No, it's just me, dad!" Danny yelled back at him with his mouth full of banana bits he had yet to finish chewing.

"Danny boy! Come on down to the lab! Your mother and I want to show you the new upgrades we're making to the portal!"

Hesitantly, Danny made his way down. Always on the cautious side when his parents are working in the lab. He reached the bottom of the steps, finishing his fruit, and throwing it in the trashcan nearby.

"Hiya, sweetie! How was school?" Maddie asks when she sees her son enter the room.

"Fine. Just long and boring. What is it exactly you guys are doing to the portal?" He asked, curiosity taking priority over precaution.

"Well, you know how bad the spillage of ghosts from the ghost zone onto the human plane is. We figured many of them are coming through our portal, so we wanted to create a better system to not only prevent them from getting through easier but alerting us when they do!" Maddie says.

'Fine by me, makes my life a little bit easier,' Danny thinks as he inspects the empty portal.

It almost makes him uneasy seeing it turned off again, reminding him of what it looked like back before it turned on. Before the accident.
