Walking down the steps leading into the main living room felt eerie. A line of children were chanting the same words. A prophecy.

"A new hero rises and he will take flight, but when the arrow finds him, a new hero dies."

I walked into the middle of the room while the kids chanted it over and over, circling around me.

I'm going out of my mind.

"Stop saying that!" I exclaimed.

Then I heard it in my head. It was the sphinx's voice.

"A new hero rises but can be felled by the golden arrow." I heard. I looked down to see the arrow in my hand.

Before I knew it, Hope was dead in front of me. That's impossible. She can't die.

"Hope!" I yelled and ran over to her. She was unconscious and had grey veins all over her. What is going on?

Before I had time to process this, I heard Josie's voice behind me.

"Scarlett."

I whipped my head around. Josie was standing there but it wasn't her. Her eyes were completely blacked out.

"We're not alone." She said.

What is going on?

I jumped awake. It took me a second to realize where I was. I was sitting at Alarics' desk trying to fix the ascendant. Hope was in here with me but she must've left.

Something happened. I'm not sure what but I can feel it. That dream was trying to tell me something.

Hope knocked on the door and came into the room with a cup of coffee.

"You're gonna need it."

"Thanks." I muttered and picked up a piece of metal that looked nothing significant enough to bring Josie back. "I'm having dreams now."

"What kind of dreams?" She asked.

"Ones with children chanting prophecies about how I'm failing as a hero and you being dead in front of me." I huffed.

Her eyebrows raised. "Dark."

"Josie was in it too. But it wasn't her. I cant explain it." I shook my head and took a sip of the coffee.

"Did she say anything?"

"Yeah. "We're not alone." Whatever that means." I shrugged.

"Well, dreams for humans don't mean much. Dreams for powerful witches do. It might be important." Hope replied.
