Andy sat in his trailer after a long night of filming, his call time had been one A.M and it was currently just after eleven in the morning. He was exhausted.
During warped tour, Black Veil's old booking agent and the head of Asking Alexandria's record label, Ash Avildson, had approached him with a screen play for a movie he wrote.<
"I had you in mind for the main character, would you be interested?" He had asked.
Of course Andy said yes, who in their right mind would say no to something like that?
The movie was set to start filming in spring 2016 and Andy for once had a free schedule.
The band had decided to take a much need break from touring and Andy being the workaholic he is, immediately jumped into the studio with John Feldmann to write and record his first solo record.
Andy wanted to make a different type of music but he didn't want to change the bands sound unless it was completely natural and organic. Glam metal to dipesh mode style dark pop/rock was not organic.
He also needed something to fall back on just in case things within the band got worse.
After the sudden death of Chris Holley, Andy knew he needed to make a change.
Chris was one of the few people who knew the extent of what Andy had been going through, he was his support system, his cheerleader and one of his best friends.Chris loved everything about the Andy Black project. "I'll lose some weight and buy a really cool bass!" He had said when Andy suggested he play bass for his touring band.
Chris believed in him, he believed Andy could get sober.
"Hey, why don't we run down to the gym and work out? Sweat out all the booze and get a fresh start before we head home." Chris had said into Andy's thick greasy hair after the singer had completely broke down, months(years) or bottling things up and trying to drown it with booze finally came to a head and Andy just fell apart, but Chris was there to put him back together.
They had made a pact that day to get sober together, keep each other accountable and support one another.
After they had flown home, the two embraced tightly.
"See you in a few weeks, man." Andy had said with a bright smile as he waved goodbye to his friend and headed home and hopefully sleep in for a bit when a phone call woke him much earlier than he had planned.
Chris was dead. Passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Losing Chris nearly killed Andy but he refused to break his promise, he would get better for the both of them.
And he did. Andy had been sober for a few months, became vegan, started working out daily and started going to physical therapy once a week.
The physical therapy, that was a result of finally finding a doctor(a sports doctor of all things) who knew what was wrong.
Severe nerve damage in his back from his rib injury not healing properly. The singer wasn't surprised by this, he didn't really do anything the doctor had told him to do when he broke them.
'Fucking ribs always come back to haunt me.' Andy thought with a morbid smile.
So now he was taking the steps to help with the damage, he'd always deal with pain but taking care of himself would help lessen said pain a great deal.
No one in his band still knew about all of that, not that he was hiding it from them, per-say... he just didn't feel like he needed to at this point.
He should probably tell Jake at some point though.
Andy pulled out his phone and clicked on his text thread with the guitarist. He typed in a message but hesitated to send it.
