Oh No...Our Band...it's Broken

Jake was sitting in his studio with Jinxx tracking a song and waiting for their frontman to send them lyrics to a new song.

He and Amanda had called it quits a few weeks ago and he knew he should be more upset about it, but it was fairly mutual so it hadn't ended badly.

"I just feel like we aren't clicking anymore, ya know? Like I feel like you're not as invested in this relationship as I am and that isn't fair for either of us." Amanda had explained to him gently, he had denied it at first but at the end of the day, she was right. Something was holding him back, he wasn't sure what.

"You deserve to go after what you really want, Jake and I deserve to have someone that isn't settling." The guitarist didn't know what she had meant by the statement, he wasn't settling with her and he had what he wanted... or at least he was pretty sure he did. Maybe the woman was right, maybe she saw something that Jake couldn't.

"Oh fuck." Jinxx said, breaking the comfortable silence between them. Jake snapped from his thoughts as he looked to the other guitarist in confusion.

"What?" He asked, spinning around in his swivel chair to face the older man, a puzzled look spreading across his features as he studied Jinxx.

"Andy sent the song." The violinist said, a forlorn look on his face as he turned the laptop around and pointed it at Jake.

The guitarist took the laptop from him and slid it closer to examine the email.

Vale(this is where it ends)

Andy hadn't mentioned writing a title track, let alone finishing it. The guitarist clicked on the link to pull up the song and began to skim over the words.

Every word I said
Echoes in my head
Like ghosts that haunt the night
I'm living one last time
Visions of us fade away
The mirror we can hide
Forever now we'll stay away

The guitarist frowned, scrolling down a bit to read the rest.

Life took another turn
A hurricane has washed away
The fire that once burned
Time taking our true spark
Chosen but we gave away
The beat to your broken heart
I can't put it back together
No, I won't put it back together
This is where it ends

Dreams will come and end

'Oh shit.' The guitarist thought gravely as the words began to click.

Living with my sin
A fear that burns so bright
I lie awake at night
Missing my heart everyday
I know inside it's time
To end this now and face today

Life took another turn
A hurricane has washed away
The fire that once burned
Time taking our true spark
Chosen but we gave away
The beat to your broken heart
I can't put it back together
No, I won't put it back together
This is where it ends

Life took another turn
A hurricane has washed away
The fire that once burned
Time taking our true spark
Chosen but we gave away
The beat to your broken heart
I can't put it back together
No, I won't put it back together
This is where it ends

"Oh." Jake said as he processed the lyrics, unable to form any words other than that as the meaning of the words sunk in. There was no way it meant anything other than what he thought it did.
