Kitsune stood on the balcony of the mansion, just watching as birds flew by. It had been a year since Chris and her got together, and she was now officially living with him. She smiled to herself, more than content with her life.
As far as her knowledge went, her family never even attempted to reach her. She highly doubted they would. No letters, no texts, no calls, nothing. And even if, somehow, they found out she was living in a mansion in the woods, she didn't have very many concerns. Like she said in her note, she was by all accounts allowed to make her own choices.
Besides, she had very strong doubts that Chris and Teatime would let them anywhere near her.
She perked up upon hearing the familiar sound of Chris's dress shoes approaching. She smiled, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye. "Hey hun." She greeted, feeling his arms wrap around her.
Chris rested his head on hers, smiling as well. "Hello, darling. How's your new story coming along, hm?" He asked.
Since Kitsune moved in, she had began writing novels as a pastime. When she showed Chris one, he had encouraged her into getting them published. Sure enough, she got a lot of positive reviews- so she decided to make a career out of it.
"Really well, thanks. But don't think you can sweet talk me into giving you a sneak peek, cuz it's not gonna work, mister." Kitsune responded, smirking as she heard him huff.
"Well, damn. You're no fun." He teased.
"Says the one who proposed." Kitsune remarked, turning around to face him.
"Heh, touché. I certainly don't regret it." Chris remarked, tilting her chin up.
Kitsune giggled, hugging him. "And I don't regret saying yes." She remarked, intertwining her hand with his. On their ring fingers were two matching engagement rings.
Chris patted her head, standing beside her on the balcony. "So, any attempts by your old family yet?" He asked.
"To my surprise, no. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they just gave up on me." Kitsune replied.
"Well, that's their problem." Chris stated, taking hold of her hand. "Anyways, come along now. It's getting cold." He added, Kitsune nodded as she followed him back into the house.
"I know you said I couldn't 'sweet talk' you into showing me a bit of your new story, but could you at least tell me the title?" Chris asked, as they headed to their now shared bedroom.
"Hmm.. I don't see why not. It's called Unexpected Discoveries'. It's inspired off of us." Kitsune explained as they walked into the room.
"Sounds very interesting. I'm very excited to see it, even if we already know how the story ends." Chris remarked, sitting on the bed with her.
"Heh, I'm glad." Kitsune remarked, leaning her head against his shoulder.
Chris gently squeezed her hand, laying down with her. Kitsune giggled, snuggling against him. "I'm so excited... I can't believe the wedding is in a few days." She commented.
"I'm as excited as you, dear." Her partner responded, leaning his head against hers.
Kitsune smiled, happy to know that the one she loved and her were to be officially married now. She nuzzled into him. It was funny, really. Out of everything she expected to find from being a journalist, this was certainly not one of them. But she certainly wasn't complaining. This was officially it- her happy ending.
The end.
