A young man with short stylish brown hair, trimmed beard and unique red eyes was sitting in the backseat of a car looking out the window to see the skyscrapers of Austin, Texas flying by. The man's name was Asmund Strand and he was a 26-year-old firefighter that used to live in New York with his father, Owen Strand who was chief of the firehouse up there, and his twin brother, Tyler Kennedy Strand who went by TK for short and was also a firefighter like Asmund. As Asmund sat in the backseat; TK sat in the front listening to music on his phone while their father drove.
"Hey, Asmund." Owen said and Asmund looked up at his father, "I'll need your help unloading some stuff when we get to the house, is that okay?"
"Yeah, Dad." Asmund replied and he looked at TK with a sad look, "After that, I thought I would go tour the city."
"Sounds like a good idea." Owen agreed, "Take your brother with you okay?"
"Sure thing." Asmund said as he pulled out his phone and texted TK the plan and TK looked back at him and nodded before going back into his own world.
Asmund sighed as he sat back and looked back at the city as he knew that TK had been against moving but their father was adamant about moving especially after the incident with TK and his ex-boyfriend. Asmund was only a few minutes younger than TK but TK never held his older brother status against Asmund and always treated him like an equal and they protected each other. Asmund had been bullied a lot growing up due to his red eyes and TK had stood up for him and when the bullies attacked TK, Asmund somehow blasted the bully across the hall with some kind of telekinesis. The bully was too scared to say anything and no one else had seen the incident so Asmund and TK kept it to themselves, secretly finding out that Asmund had different abilities and they trained in secret for him to use them to their max potential. Asmund had the ability to heal, levitate, use telekinesis, several natural elements and could see the dead and speak to them. Asmund came back to reality as Owen parked in front of their new house and Asmund helped him unpack for the next few hours and set up his own room before heading out into town with TK before ending up at a bar where they sat drinking.
"You okay?" Asmund asked TK who nodded, "I know this move isn't exactly what you had in mind."
"What was Dad thinking moving us here?" TK questioned angrily, "Is he trying to piss us off by having us move to another state?"
"I don't care where we live, TK." Asmund said, "I only care if you're okay."
"Yeah, I know." TK replied sighing and smiling at his brother, "Thanks, Asmund."
Hey there, pretty lady Asmund heard a man say and he glanced behind himself to see a redneck man with short blonde hair and blue eyes with a beard wearing a leather outfit sliding over to a lady with long brown hair and brown eyes wearing a blue dress, Can I buy you a drink?
Sorry but I am waiting for a friend. the lady told him as she shifted uncomfortably.
A pretty thing like you shouldn't be kept waiting the man said getting closer and Asmund's eyes slanted in anger.
"Asmund..." TK said softly as he saw Asmund's look, "Don't go over there."
"Yeah...I'm not staying still, brother." Asmund replied as he got up and headed over to the man and woman, "Is everything okay here, Miss?"
The woman looked at him in surprise and slight relief as the man looked angry.
"She's fine, dude." the man said glaring at Asmund, "Why don't you mind your own business?"
"I think that you need to leave this lady alone." Asmund advised and the man's face contorted in anger and his fists clenched, "Miss, you can join me and my brother until a friend arrives if you like."
"Thank you." the lady said as she got up to go with Asmund.
"Now just wait a minute." the man said as he reached towards the woman to grab her when Asmund quickly grabbed the man's hand in an instant and twisted it painfully causing the man to cry out in pain and fall down on a knee.
"Touch her and you lose your hand." Asmund warned as TK came up quickly and guided the woman back, "When a lady tells you no, she means no."
Suddenly Asmund sensed something off and time seemed to slow down as he saw a woman with long blonde hair, blue eyes, and wearing a long flowing white dress and she looked at Asmund as she walked behind the customers of the bar before stopping and mouthing the word 'fire'. Asmund's eyes widened in shock as time resumed and he pushed the man towards the exit.
"Get out of here." he told him and the man left angrily as Asmund turned to everyone else when an explosion could be heard.
Fire blasted from the kitchen causing the people to scream and scramble to rush out and Asmund walked up to TK and their new friend and Asmund started pushing both of them to the exit.
Someone help! a man's voice called out in anguish and Asmund turned around to see one of the bartenders trapped under a beam.
"Asmund!" TK yelled as Asmund rushed towards the trapped man and TK grunted in anger as he helped the lady outside.
Asmund reached the trapped man and looked down at him.
"It's okay, I got you." he said, "What's your name?"
"Peter..." the man groaned weakly, "This beam crushed my legs."
Flames rose as it continued to enflame the building and Asmund rushed over to the sink behind the bar and doused a rag with water before running back to Peter and giving it to him.
"Put this on your nose and mouth to prevent smoke from getting in." Asmund told him and Peter nodded before taking the rag and doing what Asmund advised him to do as Asmund looked around for something to prop the beam off Peter's legs.
"I'm...I'm feeling dizzy." Peter told him weakly as more fire and smoke filled the bar and Asmund coughed from the smoke as Peter laid back and closed his eyes.
Asmund checked the man's vitals and made sure he was still alive before standing up as red aura began to cover his hands as he summoned his telekinesis power. He went over to the beam and used his powers to lift the beam off Peter and laid it on the ground beside the bartender making it seem like he lifted it himself for any camera footage. Asmund allowed himself to get some burns on his hands before he grabbed Peter and lifted him up, using telekinesis to help lift him, and began making their way to the exit. Asmund heard sirens outside as flames rose in front of him and he stopped immediately.
"Damn fire..." he muttered angrily as his eyes glowed brightly and the flames started dying down allowing Asmund to talk out with Peter just as several firefighters came up to them.
"We got two civilians here!" a male fireman called out to the paramedics and Asmund let them carry Peter away as he was led to an ambulance by the male fireman, "Okay, let's sit you down and take a look at you."
"I'm alright just some burns on my hands." Asmund told the fireman.
"I'll be the judge of that until a paramedic gets here." the man said and Asmund looked up at the fireman to see that the man had short brown hair and blue eyes and stood at the height of 6ft tall easily and solid build.
Asmund sighed as he allowed the man to examine him and the man gently took Asmund's hands into his and examined them softly with extra care.
"Well looks like you just have minor surface burns." the man said, "You're lucky."
"Asmund!" TK called out as he came running up with the lady beside him, "Thank goodness, you're okay."
"I'm fine, TK." Asmund assured his brother and he looked at the lady, "Are you okay, Miss?"
"Lucy?" the fireman questioned shocked and the woman looked up at the fireman and smiled.
"Hey cousin." she said, "Take care of this guy...he and his brother saved me from a creep in the bar."
"Well it seems that I owe you two." the fireman said looking at Asmund and TK and he extended a hand, "Name is Judd Ryder and you've met my cousin, Lucy."
"No problem, Judd." TK replied shaking the fireman's hand and Judd turned to Asmund to shake his hand and then realized that was a bad idea considering Asmund's burns.
"Asmund!" Owen called out and Asmund looked at TK in shock.
"You called Dad?" he questioned in disbelief.
"You stayed in the fire." TK said, "What else was I supposed to do?"
"Asmund, are you okay?" Owen asked concerned as he reached them.
"Yeah, Dad." Asmund answered.
"Sir, your son only has minor burns from the fire." Judd told Owen, "He saved a man's life tonight as well as saved my cousin from a creep."
"Thank you for taking care of him, Mr...." Owen said extending a hand.
"Judd Ryder, sir." Judd replied.
"Owen Strand." Owen told him and Judd's eyes widened in shock, "And these are my sons, TK and Asmund."
"Strand...as in the new Chief of the 126?" he said surprised and he saluted, "Sir, I am from the 126 and it's an honor to meet you."
"At ease, Judd." Owen replied chuckling and he turned to Asmund, "I'm taking you home, Asmund."
Asmund sighed but got up anyways with Judd's help and smiled at the man.
"Thanks." he said and Judd nodded, "See you at work when I've recovered."
"Looking forward to it." Judd replied smiling and Asmund left the scene with TK and his father with Judd looking after them before turning to his cousin, "Now what's this about a creep hitting on you?"
