"At least give me a name to work with--" the girl huffed, "This is so unfair!" she was quick to add as an afterthought as she whined and complained. Mono curled his fingers around the silk on Gojo's uniform, trying his best to stay unseen behind the man's leg. The hiding place was, obvious to anyone to see it, rushed and not well thought out. On instinct, the child almost sighed, but he was able to catch himself last minute. Oh, get a grip. You've hidden from multiple monsters in the past-- what's different now?

Turns out he didn't even need to sigh, as Gojo did it for him. "His name is Mono," secretly, the man slipped his hand to loosely stretch behind his back, offering his index finger. The black haired boy looked at the pale skin, confused. Was he supposed to do something with it, or was the man just pointing at him? Gojo reached down, very subtly, to briefly poke Mono's small nose, pulling the hand back to his side calmly like nothing ever happened. Mono blinked and shifted his gaze to the large fair skinned hand that rested innocently at his side, the one that poked him for just about no reason. As he stared at the hand, Gojo and Nobara started to have a plain conversation about him, though you could also call it an interview.

"What about his age? He looked young." Nobara stated. If Mono wasn't too busy trying to comprehend the-- whatever that was-- he would feel flattered (or creeped out) from how interested a complete stranger was of him. Anyways, the hand. He focused on it, hesitating and debating with himself. Reciprocate, yes, he should reciprocate. Unsure of himself, he hovered his index finger near the palm of Gojo's hand, inching closer-- until he couldn't. He paused, confusion bouncing off the walls of his mind. He pulled back, and he was able to move his fingers as he pleased. "He's ten, we worked it out together," he could hear the man faintly respond to Nobara's question, and could hear Nobara faintly responding back (probably with another question), though he gave almost none of his attention to it.

He jabbed his finger foreword, trying to close the distance between his finger and the hand. He didn't make it, as he was only met with-- solid air?

"Anywayss, I would totally love to continue this interview and stuff but I need to.. um.. water my dog. I'll catch up with you later, yeah?" Gojo said awkwardly. He stiffly rushed for the handle of the wooden door, smart enough to not move the leg that Mono stood behind. The curse could only hear the faint cry of Nobara's protests before the door was shut completely. The handle rattled. Gojo must've tampered with it, but how?

Of course, there was absolutely no time to think deeper into it because he was then lifted up an cradled into the silver-haired mans significantly larger arm. Not even given a chance to adjust to the new position, the man took off with him, the child, wrapped safely from both sight and harm.

"Where are we going?!" Mono cried, clinging to the man's frame despite them both knowing that he wouldn't be dropped. Gojo looked like he actually had to think about the question, which was concerning, to say the least. Though it only took a moment for him to answer, an idea sprouting in the mans head. "I'll drop you off in Itadori's dorm room, and then I'll run back and get Itadori and we can spend the rest of the day just doing whatever I guess. How does that sound?"

That's actually the most domestic and calming scenario I could ever conjure up, Mono thought.

The older man laughed, "Haha, wow. That's quite sad..."

"Oh, I guess I said that out loud," Once again, the child's face was alight with embarrassment. Luckily, the man chose not to comment on it and instead focused on the destination. The pace also slowed, again, to Mono's luck. They now travelled at a brisk stride rather than a jog.

"Gojo," Mono began, his tone light. Said man shifted his gaze to him (or what he could guess, what with the blindfold on), "Why did you poke my nose earlier?" the question was purely curious. Gojo smiled, "I booped you." was all he said. Mono narrowed his eyes, giving the older a weird look. the blindfolded man laughed, "It's like, a really weird form of affection."

The boy looked away and didn't answer, but Gojo saw the sudden sparkle in his eyes, and the way he pursed his lips to hide a smile.

A calming silence followed the rest of the walk.

+ + + +

A mile-wide smile broke out on the child's face the second he heard the click of the door shutting. Gojo left, like he said, to collect Yuuji so the three of them could spend the rest of the day together. Giddiness seeped into his heart. He couldn't help it, Gojo and Yuuji were quickly becoming his favorite people. I mean, sure, there was certainly lots more to discover about them, like the mouth on Itadori's cheek or the space that sometimes makes it impossible for Mono to touch Gojo, but on the other hand he's never told anybody about his ability to turn people into mindless husks. Pretty even. But what did it matter? They're kind to him, they're sparing and generous, they talk to him, they make him feel warm and giddy and inspired to live. I mean, Gojo gave him affection today! Affection! He almost never gets affection.

They're almost better than Six.

His eyebrows furrowed and he took a seat on Yuuji's bed. He hasn't been thinking of Six for a while. More, he didn't want to. Admittedly, he did get attached, maybe a little obsessed, maybe he felt alive because of her. But then she dropped him, and now he doesn't know what to do. He feels hurt, of course, the mental sting of pain when he remembers the cold stare, the last thing she has ever given to him before he was plunging into darkness. But, the hole in his heart has been filled so instantly with kindness and affection and with people who talk to him (god, he couldn't get over that) and he doesn't know what to feel now.. Overwhelmed? He sighed and balled his fists up, taking a long, deep inhale.

He shifted to lay on his side, the mattress practically shallowing him whole. He released his breath into a sharp exhale.

I think they might be better than Six.
