It had been dark at first. Quiet. Peaceful. Painless. Izuku felt so happy, so at peace, in the darkness. It was as if he were floating above the world where nothing could reach him, where nothing could hurt him. Not even his usual thoughts would pester him, his demons finally leaving him alone. That had been something he was worried about, when he decided he would.. end it all. He thought it would hurt, but it didn't. Infact, he couldn't really feel anything.
He loved it. He really did. He hadn't felt anything like it before, and he loved it. He never wanted it to end, God, he didn't.
But ofcourse, God was never on his side.
He didn't know how long he was in the loving darkness, but he wished he had stayed there longer.
It had started with whispers. A few echo's of words that he couldn't make out. No big deal, he could ignore them. He wouldn't let them take this peace away from him. He wouldn't. But.. after a bit, the whisper grew louder. It was as if they were, forcing his mind to pay attention, to get rid of his ability to ignore them. The whisper grew louder, and louder, and louder until they were shouts yet he couldn't understand what they were saying. All in the matter of seconds.
Then the pain started.
And oh, did it hurt. He could feel every single inch of his body, all of it burning with white hot pain. He could feel how his bones shifted and cracked, splintered as they pierced his organs and were so close to breaking his skin. He could feel how his lungs ached, screamed, begged for him to inhale the sweet air he had taken for granted. He could feel the blood flooding his airway, choking him. And his head. Oh his head. It was the worst. He could feel how his skull stabbed into his brain, the vital organ screeches for the pain, all of the pain, to stop.
But it didn't. It continued, grew worse until he was praying to all the gods he had ever heard of to just let him scream. But his prays weren't answered.
All of the pain he had suffered in his life was now returning, but even that wasn't enough, the pain had been multiplied tenfold.
It hurt.
IthurtIthurtIthurtIthurtIthurtIthurtIthurtIthurtStopitStopitStopitStopitStopit-And just like that, he was ripped away from that sweet, sweet darkness.
He wished he could go back.
A blinding light assaulted his vision, and his eyes burned yet he couldn't close them. He couldn't even move. Even if he could, he wouldn't, because that would only that the pain worse.
He wanted to cry, he wanted to scream, but he couldn't do either of those things. He was frozen, stuck in an endless loop of pain and he hated it.
The burning light didn't go away, but something appeared. It wasn't gone, heaven no, but Izuku could.. see other things within the light. All of them were blurred, but he could see them.
People were surrounding him from above -the whispers he had heard before, he realised, were there shouts-, some were kneeling besides him, others were screaming, some crying, some calling for help. Then they all disappeared, the scene twisted and he saw a ever so familiar shade of ruby eye sharing at him from above with tears threatening to fall. Kacchan. The scene shifted again, now older people were kneeling around him, some he recognised as his teachers, and the others were what he could only guess were paramedics. They were shouting, possibly at him, but he couldn't understand what they were saying. He felt a pair of hands on his chest, pushing his ribcage down to further pierce his lungs and adding to his already unbearable pain before letting up and repeating. CPR, he realised, they were trying to save him. The faces blurred, and then they were gone, however just before they disappeared, he saw looks of horror and defeat flood their expressions and the hands left his chest.
