Hello! I know it's been awhile but I haven't been getting the chance to do a lot of writing lately because of school. The next chapter will either be out in a month or some time in April. But I don't plan to abandon the story so stay tuned!
Anyways, enjoy the chapter!
Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon.

He's actually really annoyed by you.
He knows how clingy you are.
In reality he beat you.
He settled for you because he felt sorry for you.
He knew no one would want to partner with you.
Don't bring him down to your level.
Everything those girls had said was playing on repeat in May's mind. She just couldn't seem to shake those thoughts away. It scared her that there might have been some truth to what they said. What if she really hadn't beaten Drew in the Grand Festival? What if she was being clingy? What if-?
"May!"
"Huh? What?" May snapped her head to Drew who was watching her, completely exasperated as they walked along the dirt path, the fall leaves crunching beneath their shoes.
"I called you three times. You've been zoning out a lot lately, something on your mind?" he asked, a look of concern crossing his features.
"No, it's nothing," May said quickly. "Anyway, why were you calling me?" Drew knew something was wrong but decided not to push it. He could sense it since they had left Violet city two days ago. She had been unusually quiet, not even arguing back as much as she usually did when he teased her.
"I was saying do you want to stop for lunch?" he gestured to a small clearing.
"Yeah sure. I am pretty hungry right now," she said, nodding.
"Please, when are you not hungry?" Drew smirked, hoping to get some sort of reaction from her. But once again, she wasn't paying attention. He sighed.
"Hey, can we have a battle first?" May suddenly asked.
"Now?" Drew asked with a furrowed brow. May nodded.
"Sure I guess," he shrugged. There was definitely something wrong. But for now he decided not to question it and called out Ponyta. This was a good battling opportunity for it since it hadn't done so before. Across the clearing, May thought for a while and seeing that Drew had chosen Ponyta, she chose her pokeball and tossed it in the air. Oddish emerged.
"Think you'll be able to beat me with a type disadvantage?" Drew smirked.
"Yeah...I will!" May said, though she sounded a little uncertain. This worried Drew even more. It wasn't like her to be uncertain, especially when it came to beating him in a battle. Even if she knew there was no chance, she always acted as though she fully believed she could win.
"Well then, you first," Drew offered with a flick of his hair.
"Oddish, use Acid!" May ordered and Oddish released a stream of purple gas which headed straight for Ponyta.
"Ponyta, dodge using Agility and then use Fire Spin!" Drew countered.
"Oddish use Double Team to Dodge and then-"
