charlotte's POV:

painting is often misunderstood. people think it's meant to capture a moment in time.

and maybe in the eyes of some, or most, it is.

but to me it's to capture feeling.

not everything has feeling. a freshly bloomed daffodil does not have as much feeling as it does contrasted colors and beauty.

but a wilting daffodil with rain spattered petals can hold the feelings of loss and sorrow.

symbolism. another massive concept of painting.

for instance back in the Renaissance if there was a single candle lit in a painting i represented the presence of God.

the single flickering candle could capture the feeling of depression with a warmth of hope deep within the blackened voids of a soul.

there's a lot of misinterpretation of painting.

I capture feelings.

not my own but the feelings of others. feelings shouldn't ever be forgotten and in the swirls of green and blue and black, you can see the feeling.

it's vibrating like the chords of a cello being furiously played by a Julliard audition.

it pulses like the beat of a drum ever so softly being struck.

the drum was his heart. and the pulse was his feelings.

and I am determined to capture it.
