ashton's POV:

my hands moved mechanically. my head nodded robotically. I was playing. but I wasn't paying attention.

the beat was like a nursery rhyme. you hear it enough times, read it enough times and it becomes natural.

Luke's voice stopped me short "ash ash ash. whoa dude" I looked up startled. what had i done wrong?

michael and calum looked back at me questioningly. "what happened?" I snapped a little irritated. luke crossed his arms "well we were in the middle of Unpredictable when you changed the beat to Gotta Get Out" he trailed off.

oh. "sorry guys im distracted. uhm, im gonna go get some coffee" I dropped my drum sticks and left the practice garage.

it was a bit colder tonight then usual. I pulled my jumper closer around me and horrid down around the corner to the coffee shop.

*ding ding*

the door rang as I walked in. it was relatively empty except for a couple and a lone soul at the counter. I walked up to the smiley barista and ordered my coffee. within 5 minutes I was sitting in a corner booth staring hard at the wooden table.

there were carvings in the table. initials of past lovers who had capture their love in a split second of vandalism.

nice one.

out of the corner of my eye I seen a figure move. very slightly I turned my head. a girl sitting at the bar had turned her chair around. she was watching me with her head cocked slightly to the left. she began to stand, hesitated and sat back down. after a few seconds of fiddling with her coffee cup lid she took a breath and stood heading my way.

"e-excuse me?" she stammered. now I turned my head fully and looked up at her.

she was beautiful. her brown hair was wavy and fell softly around her shoulders. her blue eyes flashed from her hands to my eyes. I nodded towards the opposite side of the booth. she let out a breath, gave me a grateful smile and sat down.

for a few minutes no one said anything. her eyes constantly shifted never settling on one thing. she looked at the table, to her hands, to her coffee, to my hands and back to the table. finally i released a small chuckle and she looked up startled. finally her eyes rested on mine. "you going to say anything?" i chuckled shaking my head. she let out a breathy laugh and fiddled with her hands.

"this is going to sound utterly insane. but I would like to capture your feelings." she stated softly.

my eyebrows furrowed slightly "what do you mean? like a date?" I was for sure confused. she could've done what every other girl had. flirt their asses off until I asked them out.

she shook her head. oh.

"no. it's hard to explain. but if you say yes, I can show you tomorrow." she softly asked her eyes flitting across the room around us.

what did I have to lose? "sure." I stated calmly. she smiled and scribbled a number across a napkin handing it to me. "call me. we can start at my place tomorrow." and with that she was gone.
