"Have a good day, ma'am!" I exclaimed from my office.

That was my last customer for today which means it's time to go home. I get to see my babies. My husband? I'm not so sure. I straighten up my desk & put away a few papers.

"Girl, did you hear about Sean & his baby mama?" My coworker Melissa approached my desk.

"Uh-oh, what happened now?"

"They just got into a fight & he was charged for domestic violence" She flopped down in the chair in front of me.

I groaned "Again? This is the third time this week. When is she going to leave him alone?"

"After she get done eating them ass whoopings he keep giving her. I'm telling you that bitch is a fool in love."

Melissa has been my coworker for a few years now. She use to be a stripper at the King's Throne club. But she reversed her roles & went with the bank accountant job. She's a nice person but can be a drama/gossip person. She likes to interfere into other people's lives. She always have the tea for me after hours. I'm not going to lie, I enjoy every bit of it. Despite her messy ways, she's a good friend.

"I feel bad for that poor girl. She needs to make better life decisions."

"Her?" She laughed & crossed her legs "She don't even know what the word "life" means. She always go over to his place, just to start shit with him. I think she likes the beatings. You know that kinky shit is popular nowadays."

"Don't say that, Melissa. No woman should deserve a beating. No matter how bad they are."

"Couldn't be me, I would've been killed his ass & call the police. I ain't scared to go to jail. I won't hide shit!"

"That's why guys run away from you after the first date."

She rolled her eyes "Whatever. Enough about Sean, what's going on with you & Darryl?"

"He goes by his real name, Michael. How many times do I have to tell you that?"

"My bad girl, shit. I'm just so use to the name Darryl. Your husband is legendary around these streets."

"There's nothing legendary about him" I mumbled.

Everyone knows Michael by name very well in Brooklyn. Apparently the shit that happened in California, somehow spread down here. Now everyone claims him as a legend. I've heard the stories about him saving the pretty girl from her psychotic ex. I give a thousands applauses to the different versions of the stories. They are amazingly interesting.

"You should be proud of your husband. People respect him for what he did. He's a hero & a legend. He saved you from that psychopath. You should be happy that people are talking about you."

"Do you have any more customers?" I changed the subject.

"No, mines are all gone. I'm ready to go home & get in the tub."

I closed my briefcase "No club tonight?"

"Hell nawl, my feet hurts. I bought some new bath salts that I want to try out."

"Excuse me? Is anyone here?" A feminine voice said from the front entrance.

Melissa groaned lowly "I want to go home!"

"Go ahead, I got this."

"Thank you! I'll buy you lunch tomorrow" She promised.

"You better" I pointed at her.

She quickly ran out of my office. I went to the front entrance to see a woman looking around in confusion.

"Can i help you, ma'am?"
