Picking at my fingers, a nervous habit I got from having to sit by people in class, I looked out the window. Although he didn't do anything, riding with people I didn't know made me uncomfortable. The only reason I agreed to get a ride was because Evy sounded very worried about me walking home by myself. Which, of course, I found understandable. Not everyone in the world was nice.
The neighbor hood I lived in wasn't fancy, but it wasn't terrible either. There were kids running around happily, parents making sure their kid didn't get hurt, the way a parent should. Eventually we got to my place.
"Thank you.." I mumbled out, getting out of the vehicle.
"Any time" was all he replied with before he drove off.
(Ok now we are back to where we finished chapter one-)

A week later, I was able to convince Evy I could walk home on the weekends. On the weekends we closed earlier so that the employees could enjoy their weekend.
So here I was, on a Saturday, enjoying the rain on my walk home. I loved the rain. The sounds it made against any surface it touched. It wasn't down pouring, thankfully, so all I needed was my hoodie to keep me as dry as it could.
Eventually reaching my apartment, I unlocked my door and went to turn on the heater. I wish the rain didn't make you so cold. Taking off my hoodie, I made sure it wasn't dripping, then set it somewhere so it could dry.
Before I could move to my room to change into comfy clothes, I heard a knock on my door. That's weird. No one usually comes to my door.
I moved slowly towards my door, being cautious. I stood on my tippy toes, looking through the peep hole, only to be met with green eyes, waiting anxiously by the door. I put my heals back on the floor, opening the door.
"I-Is everything okay?" I asked nervously.
"...Yes" He said, then leaned over to me, reaching is hand out to my face.
I immediately flinched back, my heart rate speeding up. With a surprised look, he quickly pulled his hand back. "I'm sorry, I was going to check your head to make sure you didn't have a fever, I should've asked-"
"It's fine..." I mumbled out, trying to slow down my heart. It was fine. He wasn't going to hit me. I'm okay.
I raised my own hand to check if my head was warm. It was at a normal temperature. "I'm fine.. thank you though" I told him. His shoulders sagged, as if what I said relieved him.
"That's good, if you ever need a ride home, just let me know"
He then handed me a piece of paper with numbers on it, and left. Shutting my door, I walked to my room, putting the piece of paper next to my blanket. I took some clothes out of my bag, then went to the bathroom to take a shower.
