Litwak allowed Keys to use the arcade's Wi-Fi router to log into his laptop. If it meant getting to the bottom of the unusual activity that went on with all the games, then Litwak was more than happy to allow the young couple to do what they could to solve the mystery of the crash that shut down all his games, starting with Fix-It Felix.

"Don't worry, Mr. Litwak," Millie comforted. "We'll figure out what's going on – one way or another."

"The fate of this arcade lies with you kids now," Litwak stated. "No pressure."

Millie hovered beside Keys as he typed away at his laptop. "Could it be a virus?"

"No, that's impossible," Keys denied. "How could a sophisticated computer virus crash an old arcade game from the 80s?"

"Guy's programming is advanced, Keys," Millie recollected. "It's possible it could spread to other programs, even ones with codes as old as those in Fix-It Felix."

Keys couldn't ignore the logical point she made. "O.K., so say you're onto something there. What kind of program would turn Guy into a virus? We specifically designed his algorithm to be incorruptible."

"Someone or something had to corrupt his data," Millie surmised.

Litwak stood by listening to the two millennials discuss "algorithms" and "codes" like it was a whole different language to him (and it was). The best contribution he could make to the conversation was, "How 'bout I make you kids some coffee? I could really go for a cup right now."

"Thanks, Mr. Litwak," Millie and Keys graciously accepted the offer.

As Litwak turned to leave, he suddenly spotted a familiar character on Millie's laptop screen. "Hey, it's that lady from that one alien bug game in my arcade," Litwak vaguely identified. "I forget the name, but the kids sure do love playing it. It's a bit too gross and violent for me." He then recognized two more characters on the screen, chuckling in amusement. "Hey, hey! It's Felix and Ralph! I gotta admire the commitment you kids put into bringing classics like those guys into your new-age game!"

Neither Millie nor Keys had a clue what Litwak was talking about; but, sure enough, the characters from Fix-It Felix and Hero's Duty were in fact in Free Life. And Sgt. Calhoun was about to unload her laser rifle on Guy's head.
