"I can't believe Antwan is up to his old tricks again," Keys grumbled as he was hard at work on his laptop. Millie was connected to Free Life on hers, using her "Molotov Girl" avatar to interact with Guy and the characters from Fix-It Felix, Sugar Rush, and Slaughter Race – whose presence were still a mystery to the game developers.

"Really?" Millie remarked in genuine surprise. "Because it's sort of his M.O."

After nearly half an hour of typing away at his laptop, Keys finally came up with a plan that he shared with Millie and Litwak (who still didn't understand most of what the young tech experts were doing). "O.K., so here's what I've got," he began. "The only way to stop Antwan's malware copy of Guy is to corrupt the corrupt file."

"Like an antimalware program?" Millie deduced.

"Exactly," Keys confirmed. "But there are none too sophisticated to do the job."

"Hey, guys?" They heard Guy talking to them from the game itself. He had done this before, although he couldn't exactly see the real Millie or Keys from his perspective in the game – neither could Ralph, Vanellope, Felix, Calhoun, or Shank for that matter.

They saw Guy point to Vanellope, as she stood next to him, waving.

"My new friend here says she might be useful in stopping the bad version of me," Guy said.

The plan Guy and his new video game friends came up with was genius.

Being a glitch, Vanellope was the only one who could get close enough to "Bad Guy" – Antwan's virus copy of Guy – and corrupt him. The best way to do this was challenge Antwan to a race in the Slaughter Race game.

Of course, there were stakes that they settled pre-race.

"If I win, the big, smelly basement-dweller behind the controller deletes you for good," Vanellope told the Bad Guy (and, by extension, Antwan).

"I'm gonna let that 'basement-dweller' crack slide and ask the obvious question: what do I get when I win?" Antwan said.

"You get full control of Slaughter Race," Vanellope replied.

She had to check with Shank for approval of this stipulation, as it was a risky endeavor; but Shank had total confidence in Vanellope not only as a racer but as a friend as well.

The race began with Shank and her crew (Butcher Boy, Felony, Pyro, and Little Debbie) as other contestants. Though it was pretty much five against one, the overoptimistic Antwan allowed it. He was familiar with the open-world layout of Slaughter Race, which inspired that of Free City before its cancellation.
