You want me to know you.

"Hello, you. Based on your vibes, you are too fancy to be in a book store. Ah, smothered in an oversized black hoodie, you don't want to be seen as approachable. You barely make eye contact with anyone and pace towards the first shelf you see. You don't read. Why are you here?"

"You didn't bother checking out the new books, maybe you do know what you want or are you here for something else? Your bright red lipstick and metal jewellery that jingles when you walk suggest that you like a little attention. Odd pairings but okay, I'll bite."

"Oh, so we are going straight to the horror section. You have my undivided attention now. What gore are you envisioning in your little head? Which ghoul is drawing your attention? "

"You tap every book in the row as if you are informed of the entire story in one touch. Why so particular?"

"You draw patterns with your feet around the aisles. Why so indecisive now? Oh, you want something more. You are judging the book by its cover, you also want to be judged by your attire."

"Hello, I'm Joe. I work here. I've seen that you're struggling to pick a book and if that's the case, how may I help you?" "There she is, her eyes gleaming of innocence. I think I caught her off guard."

She flips around, exposing her well-maintained exterior. Her thick, brown, short curls prance around her shoulders. A perfect blend of sharp and bulbous features of a woman in her mid-twenties. Her deep, brown eyes reflect the rays of the sunlight cascading through the windows. Joe's face casts a shadow on her olive-skinned face.

Her parted lips struggle to find words as she corrects her posture. "Oh, well, I'm new to the whole reading thing, I just want to make reading my hobby and I love horror. So I thought I could start with some spine-chilling stories. Could you suggest a good horror book?" "Your voice sounds unnecessarily deep, that's not you. Why are you on your guard?"

Joe retrieves a book from the shelf. "Guilty, the last sèance by Agatha Christie, very indulging. Since you are new to reading I would suggest this one. It consists of short, creepy stories. It would keep anyone on their toes. You could try reading it now to see if you would like it."

"Oh, I could read some pages and then get back to you, I guess."

"Yeah, sure"

"Of course, you are not a reader but you are still trying. Good for you. Need to cleanse yourself from the social media always harbouring negativity and chaos."

"Oh wait, you found the book interesting. You leave out high pitched gasps, I knew your voice was not that deep. You just want to be seen as intimidating."

"I see, the book has now captured your bewitching eyes. An enormous amount of eyeliner, gotta love it. One look in my way and I'm enamoured by you in a heartbeat."

"I need to know you."

Joe hurries to the cash counter as the mysterious girl departs from the horror section. He eases his breathing and resorts to dusting the books on the counter to be perceived as someone minding his own business and not as someone who had just stalked his customer.

Footsteps approach and Joe lays his curious gaze on her.

"Hey"

"So you like the book?" "If your looks could kill I'd be dead already."

"I actually do, sounds interesting." "She looks straight into my eyes, she wants me to give her attention. You barely made eye contact with anyone and now you are here staring deep into my soul, are you flirting with me?"
