Rabbit-Skip was returning from a patrol, feeling much more exhausted than she had in previous moons. However, this had become much more frequent at this point, and she was ready to talk about it. She placed the finch into the prey pile before approaching Torn-Star.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"We need to talk." Rabbit-Skip spoke, keeping her tone calm, yet demanding.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Not now, Rabbit-Skip. I'm busy with the clan. Can't you see that?" He meowed back dismissively. This upset Rabbit-Skip, and she stomped in front of the somewhat large cat, glaring.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"No. I think I have something that's pretty important to talk about." She growled, sitting down in his way. At this point, the nearby cats that overheard were looking in Torn-Star and Rabbit-Skip's direction.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Fine. Tell me what's on your mind. But hurry with it." He grumbled, annoyed and inconvenienced.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"It's quite simple, Torn-Star. I'm expecting kits. Until they are born, I will not be going on patrols." She meowed, bringing herself back to a calm voice and tone.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Do... Do you know when that will be?" He asked, looking stunned at the news. He obviously never payed that close attention to details on his clan members. At this point, some of the clan members that had been watching walked over to the pair.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Congratulations!" One of them mewed to Torn-Star. Another asked about if they had thought of any names for the kits. Even though Rabbit-Skip never said anything about who the father was, the bystanders seemed to assume it was him, and neither of them corrected them. Although they didn't confirm their assumptions either.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Stop. Stop. Everyone slow down. ...No, I didn't think of any names, this news is entirely new to me. Go back to whatever you were doing. I'll have Moss-Eye assign patrols." Torn-Star suddenly became preoccupied with these other cats, trying to get them to settle down, and Rabbit-Skip just stood up calmly and headed towards the medicine den. The medicine cat's ears flicked, but they payed no mind to the newcomer yet, as they were finishing their herb sorting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Rabbit-Skip spoke before the medicine cat could get a chance, "Kits, Willow-Sky. I'm expecting kits."[Chapter End]
I'm aware this was short, but I didn't intend for the prologue to be long either. The story isn't meant to have these as the main characters, so it wouldn't make sense to make it too long, in my opinion.Rabbit-Skip: https://toyhou.se/13497038.rabbit-skip
