The first time I met him was actually at my 11th birthday party. He was shy and timid; sitting on the sofa politely waiting for me to open the beautifully wrapped box in his palm. I had only invited him because I had invited all my classmates, but something about him made me feel like I wanted to know more about him. When I first opened up his present, I was astonished to see that it wasn't what everyone else had got me: CDs, books, gift cards etc. He had got me a simple dolphin anklet with golden stars encrusted on the chain. Smiling nervously, he asked,"Do you like it?" Almost immediately, I went to give him a great big hug and smiled from ear-to-ear. At night, while everyone was in their sleeping bags in my sleepover, we whispered stories that we created together that night. "And then she flew-" "No HE jumped, not flew!" "Ok, jumped and..." We brawled laughing as everyone dozed off.
