Ronnie stood outside her old high school waiting for her best friends Matt and Lane to finish school. The trio were heading to the movies along with Rory, but she had decided to meet them there as she wanted to sneak in a quick study session.
Several of her old friends made they're way out of the school and greeted her. All of them were telling them how much they missed her and asked about her new school. Ronnie enjoyed her new school, but it was far from as great as Stars Hollow High.
Her face lit up as she spotted Matt, but she quickly furrowed her brows when she spotted who he was walking with. Mystery boy, aka Dean Forester. She had no idea Matt and him were friends. As far as she knew he knew as little about him as she did. Maybe this was a good thing though. Now she could get all the inside information about Dean from Matt and she would finally figure out if he was a good guy.
Matt and Dean said they're goodbyes to each other, as well as a handshake which made Ronnie's eyes widen in surprise. They're close enough to have a handshake now?
As Matt approached her, she narrowed her eyes at him. "Since when are you buddy with mystery guy?"
"Since he joined the hockey team," he explained as he stood in front of her. "And do you have to keep calling him mystery guy? We both know his name."
"We may know his name, but we know nothing about him. For example him being a jock? Big shock. He looks like the guy who makes fun of all the school athletes," she said as she look over at we're Dean stood. "How does he play hockey? He's as thin as a pencil. Even I could take him in a fight."
Matt let out a laugh. "No, you couldn't," he said making Ronnie huff. "And I've got to know him pretty well, so mystery guy no more."
A devilish grin made the way on Ronnie's face. "Good, I was hoping you would, because now you can give me all the information on him and Rory, and if he's a good guy."
"I'm not gonna do that," he said.
"What? Why? Then what's the purpose of you," Ronnie said shocked.
"Charming," Matt said sarcastically. "It's none of your business. If Rory wanted you to know, she would've told you."
"Fine, but when you're invited to the wedding before me, just know I'll blame you," she said with crossed arms.
"I can live with that," he said.
As the pair continued catching up, Lane was beginning to make their way over to them. She quickly stopped in her tracks and slightly shook her head at them, a smile forming on her lips. Just by looking at them she could see how in love Matt Thompson was with Veronica Gilmore. It was the little things. The way he lingered on her when she wasn't looking. The smile he faked to play the part. The jealousy whenever she talked to or about another guy.
That was all Lane Kim ever wanted. She would die to have a guy like Matt Thompson. It wasn't long ago she even had a little crush on him, but that little dream died out when she realized she never stood a chance. Not necessarily because he was out of her league. Matt was so kind and welcoming to everyone. That was one of the things she admired about him. It was the fact that she could never stand a chance against Ronnie. Just look at her. Her long brown hair falling perfectly in place. Hazel eyes that mesmerized everyone. Not to mention her personality.
Lane wanted to be able to hate her for being so perfect, but she could never do that. Because even though she was incredible jealous of her looks and personality, she was her best friend. One of the few people who talked to her at Stars Hollow High. One of the popular people, yet so including and warm, just like Matt. No wonder why they fit so good together.
