JJ was thankful for Josh for multiple reasons. He's always been a loyal friend. If there was anything that bothered Jide, he is there. If he was under loads of pressure or is in a bad situation, Josh has his arms open. Josh is the kind of friend you never want to lose. And it's true, JJ doesn't ever want to lose Josh.
