Stereotypes were originally created in America during the times of when Slavery was predominate in Amercan history . It was created for the purpose of justifying all the horrible things done to ethnic minorities and these stereotypes still affect us today. Here are some different types of stereotypes For black women and half black women: the Mulatto, the Jezebel, the Mammy, the Sapphire, the Sambo. For black men; the Athlete, the Magical N****, Uncle Tom, the Sambo there are a lot more stereotypes for ethnic minorities but these were just a few of them. Stereotypes affect ethnic minorities’s lives to where it is simple but annoying ( microaggression racism or covert racism ) to where it is life-threatening and the ethnic minority may die ( Overt racism or obvious racism ).
