The water of the sea was shimmering in the sunlight. The hallways of the palace were lit by the beams of light and the Royal Family was seated for lunch in the large dining room, letting the natural light seep through the giant windows. Prince Eric was seated at the head of the table with Princess Ariel by his right side and his first daughter, Melody, by his left. Princess Aria was sitting next to her sister while their guest was placed next to Ariel.
Everyone had picked up their salad forks and started eating, but Anne was struggling to use the excessive amount of cutlery. Growing up on the Isle of the Lost she never had to deal with different sets of knives and forks. They were a few of the lucky ones to actually have silverware on the island. Ariel tried to explain the different types of knives and forks to her while Sir Grimsby informed Eric about his duties of the day. At one point Sir Grimsby was glancing in Anne's direction and lowered his voice even more as he was speaking to the prince. It made her wonder what was going on.
Aria tries to take her attention away from her father's steward by grabbing her hand over the table. "Anne?" The pink haired girl jumps up in her plush seat. In her clumsiness she almost knocks over her glass of water. "What," she asks in her iconic airy tone of voice. "Would you like to go on a stroll on the beach with Melody and me? She is taking Ally too, if you don't mind?" Princess Melody had married the son of Merlin, named Marvin, a year before and recently had a baby together named Alina. However, soon after her birth the baby princess was nicknamed Ally by most of the family and close friends.
"Y-yeah, sure, sounds nice," Antoinette babbles. Aria raises an eyebrow at her girlfriend and glances towards her father and his advisor. "Did they say something? You look so startled," she asks, noting the look on the other girl's face. But Anne quickly shakes her head side to side, her two ponytails bouncing up and down. "No, nothing. I was just.. uh.. you know, lost in thought. You know I, uh, kinda do that, uh, a lot?"
Aria shrugs her shoulders in response and returns to her food, not thinking too much of the response. It was true that Anne was more often not in the present than otherwise, especially after the Curse on Neverland. If you asked Aria it wasn't that strange that Antoinette would be more reserved and quiet. She lost her best friend to the Sleeping Curse, a friend she has relied on ever since they were toddlers. Pyper was a foundation that Anne build her entire personality on. She did everything she could to be in the girl's good graces so she would never be tossed aside. All Anne did was with Pyper's well being in mind.
Now Aria tried to show her that she should live for herself. Antoinette was having difficulty with that, but she wouldn't give up on her girlfriend.
The family was just starting on tea with each other when the doors slam open with a loud bang. Everyone looks up to see a frantic soldier rush inside. "Your Highnesses, you must come and see this-" He attempted to turn around when a voice cuts in, making him stop dead in his tracks.
"Too late."
Footsteps glide into the dining hall. Eric and Ariel reach for each other's hands, as do the sisters. Eyes were widened in fear and, most of all, confusion. "B-but you're.. you're supposed to be-" Prince Eric mutters.
