"Papa?" she asked me, I nodded, "Hi kiddo." he said to her. I smiled softly as I watched his face fall for a moment when she didn't talk to him. But her eyes were shining like the stars in the night, she jumped into his arms and took him down as tears streamed from her cheeks. "Where have you been papa? Mama's been hurt.." she mumbled, I felt my heart break slightly at her words. She knew every night I stayed up crying, I had been put on leave until a few days ago. "What happened while I was gone?" he asked her quietly.
"Mama stays up crying sometimes, sometimes she goes out and doesn't come back till morning. But she's not wobbling like other people, she just seems tired out. Like she doesn't like it here, but then she sees me and all of that goes away!" she exclaimed with a happier note. He looked at me with sad eyes, "I'm happy you've been keeping mama happy." he said to our daughter as he turned his attention back to her. I couldn't help but know we'd have a talk later. I sighed and stood up, "Alright, honey. Time for bed, okay?" I said to her, she let go of him and hugged my legs. I smiled and picked her up before walking with her on my legs. "You little monkey!" we both giggled as I tossed her into the air and caught her in my arms.
She laughed and held onto me before I brought her to her room. I set her down on her bed and pulled the covers over her, "Sleep well, my pretty Sky." I said quietly as she turned over and fell asleep. I sighed and left her room before closing her bedroom room door quietly and going back into the living room. Oboro was sitting on the couch waiting for me, I bit my lip nervously as I moved over and sat next to him. "Was it really that bad..?" he asked me quietly, I looked away from him. "It got pretty bad and even now, it's still not gone. It took me forever to even get this house for us. And despite me being in pain over you, I tried to make sure that she was still happy. I didn't want her to live without her mother as well..." I said quietly. He stared at me wth teary eyes, "How many times had you almost given up?" he asked.
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair, "Multiple, but she was what kept me going. You know when she said I left and didn't come back till morning sometimes, that's what was happning. I was going to jump one day and Shota, he saved me. He told me not only would she not have her father but she also wouldn't have her mother. And lord knows no one would treat her better than me." I whispered. He wrapped his arms around me as I felt his tears fall onto my skin, "I'm so sorry, I wish I was here." he mumbled through his tears. I wrapped my arms around him and buried my head into his chest. "But you're here now and that's all I care about." I whispered, I could feel him smile against my temple.
"You're right, let's just worry about now. And as far as I know, I have a few friends I need to see." he said with a smile as we pulled away from our hug. I smiled and kissed away his tears, he pushed back my hair from my face and kissed my forehead. "I love you so much, Shuni." he whispered. "I love you too, Oboro." I said softly as he got up and pulled me with him. The cutest couple from high school, now back together as if they were never taken apart. Everything seemed perfect right?
