Kelsey's POV:
I pay for all the groceries at the cash register, avoiding eye contact with the old woman that found me at one of the cash registers, and I carry the brown paper shopping bags to my car.
Thank goodness that Pat's flower shop was across the street, because I can simply cross the street and walk there. Her shop was open and she was inside helping a customer, but after the person leaves, she was extremely happy to see me again and we immediately went down to business; getting me my work uniform, which is mostly just an apron with the store name and logo on the front, filling out my résumé, and going over my work schedule. I would work full time on the weekdays of this month since I won't start classes until next month, starting from 9am to 7pm, and on weekends from 10am to 8pm. And of course, once I do start college, I would get to work at 3 as soon as classes are over, which was perfect.
I would be making plenty of money and paying the rent on time, no trouble at all.
After thanking her several times, I say goodbye to Pat and walk out of the floral-scented shop and back outside to the hot air and sunny sky. Literally, there was not a cloud in the sky, it really was a nice day despite the heat.
I check the time on my watch, and it was almost 2. I still need to get home and put away the groceries and unpack everything. As I have mentioned, I have a tight schedule.
I walk towards my car and get in the driver's side, putting the key in the ignition and turning the engine on. I look back at the store and begin to think about what happened inside, letting out a soft sigh. Despite how scary yet kind of funny the situation was, whoever this mysterious person is, I have to find out who he (or maybe even she) is.
I turn my gaze away from the store when I start receiving weird looks from people outside, just watching me staring at the building so intently, and I pull out of the parking lot, turning down the street to get back home. Since I didn't want to go pass the City Hall building again to avoid the Mayor and everyone else that was at the conference, I do my best making a new route to go back to my house. But since I was still new here, I have to take my time looking around every unfamiliar corner I turn to that I will eventually get used to looking for another way out of the town square.
A couple minutes later, I find a shortcut back to my house and I arrive back in no time, pulling up in the driveway. I cut the engine and get out, walking towards the trunk and I start taking out the groceries. I turn to look at the house on my right and see that Heather and the boys are home. I smile and wave to them, and they wave back to me, with Heather and Kendall smiling brightly at me. Seth just waves to me with a solemn look on his face. Best guess is that he was a little mad at me that I ratted him out to his mom back at the grocery store.
Well, I hope he doesn't stay mad at me for long, I really don't want kids to think that way of me, like I'm some snitch, because it's not true.
I watch as they go inside their own house and I turn and walk towards the front porch of my house. I look over and smile when I see Shadow watching me from the living room windows. The windows were long enough that it nearly touched the floor from inside, so it was easy for him to see me when I arrive home.
I unlock the front door and open it, smiling even more when I see my feline companion run up to me. "Hi! Yes, I'm back, Shadow. Did you miss me?" I say, kneeling down and placing the shopping bags aside from me and pet him, holding him in my arms. He meows in response, rubbing his head against my chest, and I kiss his little head.
