"What's wrong, Tom?" asked Luke again as Tom began to remove his costume. "What are you doing? You're in the middle of a shoot."

"I don't care, Luke," he said, "Get someone to take this damn wig off me."

"But I do care, Tom. Your business is mine." He stopped and looked at his manager.

"No, it's not your business, if it wasn't for you, I would have had a chance to meet Claire the normal way," he explained, "I never should have agreed to this arrangement."

"What changed with you all of a sudden? You were in favor of the arrangement"-Luke took a deep breath and braced his hands on his hips-"You can't very seriously tell me you changed your mind just because you're sleeping with her."

"No," Tom said, and Luke exhaled in relief. "I changed my mind because I fell in love with her." He tried to storm past him, but he stopped him.

"You can't throw away your career because of some girl. I've worked so long to make you successful!"

"She's not just any girl!" he said loudly, stepping toward him. "I fell in love with her!" -he stopped as he realized his feelings for her- "I can't let her and the baby go."

"Baby? She's pregnant?" asked Luke, and Tom nodded. "Are you sure you want to give up everything for her?"

What should she do? Should she wait for Tom at the apartment? Would he even want to see her? Claire should have told him right away that she was pregnant, at least then there could have been another chance between them. God, why didn't she just tell him? The questions rattled through her head as she leaned her forehead against the window.

"Miss? We're here," the cab driver said, and Claire took a deep breath before paying the driver and getting out. Silently, she walked to the apartment, but when the door closed, it felt empty without Tom. She walked down the hall to her bedroom and pulled her suitcase out from under the bed, but somehow she couldn't bring herself to pack it. Claire flopped down on the bed and covered her face with her hands. She didn't want to leave Tom, she wanted a future with him and the baby. Claire heard the front door open and she took a deep breath as she heard footsteps approaching the bedroom. She looked up as the door to the bedroom opened, but to her amazement it wasn't Tom standing in the doorway, but Luke.

"Luke? What are you doing here?" she asked, confused.

"I was sent here by Tom," he explained to her, pulling an envelope from his jacket. "I'm supposed to give this to you."

She got up from the bed "What about him?" He handed her the envelope and Claire hastily opened it, inside was the ultrasound picture, a check for a million pounds, and a cancellation of her contract. She frowned and looked back at Luke.

"He's terminating the agreement with you." -He stopped for a moment and she could hear the blood rushing in her ears- "Tom is at the peak of his career and can't afford to have a child in it; it's his wish that you leave the apartment in two hours before he's back. He has arranged a flight for you to London." He wanted no future with her. Tom was having his fun, why would he want a real relationship with her? It was reckless of Claire to believe him that he wanted more from her and probably the pregnancy was just another reason to end it. She swallowed hard and pushed back her tears; she wasn't going to break down in front of Luke.

She nodded and took a deep breath. "All right. I wish Tom all the best," she said emotionlessly, and she felt like a robot as she signed the termination agreement.

"I'll have a car sent-" he began as he tucked the paper away.

"No need, I'll take care of it myself," she said, her voice breaking. Luke nodded and Claire heard the door close before she dropped onto the bed and let the tears run down her face. She took a deep breath and wiped them away. Claire touched her stomach, she must stay strong for the baby, even if Tom didn't want to know about them anymore. She went to the closet and threw her clothes carelessly into the suitcase. She wanted to get out of here as soon as possible and forget about her feelings for him. She looked at the desk and for a moment thought of writing him a letter, but quickly dismissed the thought. Claire turned her gaze to the nightstand where he had placed a picture of them. He had an arm wrapped around her and was kissing her on the cheek; they looked happy. She stroked the glass with one finger; but it wasn't real, she tried to convince herself. She closed the suitcase and pulled it to the door before leaving the room and his life....
