CHAPTER FORTY ONE

point of view | zayne ali

...

"i still cant believe you brought us here." yasmine muttered looking around the restaurant.

i followed her gaze with my eyes. a two seat per table restaurant. it looked super fancy. it was rated the best mexican restaurant in the city.

"i wasnt rich, but i had way more money than i needed in my savings, and one night out with my girlfriend wouldnt hurt me later on." i thought with a shrug.

"you think im broke or something?" i scoffed jokingly.

she giggled and shook her head meeting my gaze. her doe eyes creases at the corners at her lovely smiled.

"i was honestly expecting mcd's." she answered.

a chuckle escaped my lips, "im offended you think so lowly of me."

her giggled sounded in response, "you do eat school salads every day."

my jaw dropped in offence followed by her laughter, "what is that supposed to mean?"

"nothing, nothing." she barely managed to say.

"pfft if you'd give it a try you'd like it." i defended myself.

she smiled at me and leaned into her fist, "mmm maybe."

i mimicked her actions and leaned on my fist as well, "you talk a lot of mess."

she laughed and used her hand to cover her smile, "and ill do it again."

a few people glanced in our direction; mostly smiles at two young teens enjoying their night with one another.

"maybe the beginning of ... love? " i offered thinking to myself, "did i already love her? would it hurt me if she left? ... yeah it would. is her happiness and well being important to me? yeah ... it is. is that what it means to love someone? for your heart to ache and yearn for them when they leave, or for their feelings to effect yours as well? "

her eyes flickered over my head and she sat up in her chair. to my left a waiter holding a note pad stood with a smile on his face.

"good evening, you two," he greeted his smiling reaching his eyes, "what can i get started for you both today?"

her chocolate colored eyes met mine and i gave her nod indicating i wanted her to order first.

"hi," she greeted back opening the menu, "may i have the beef enchiladas with salsa and chip side?"

"and to drink?" he asked clicking his pen on his chest and beginning to write her words down.

"dr. pepper." i thought as she fiddled with her rings for a moment.

"do you guys have dr. pepper?" she asked.

"haha knew it." i thought with a smile following her gaze to our waiter.

"we do," he answered, "ice?"

"no thank you." she said then i felt both of their eyes land on me.

"and for you, sir?" he questioned.

"may i have the chili cheese crunch wrap?" i requested.

he nodded writing my words down, "and to drink?"

"coke with ice please." i answered him.

he sent me a smile nodding his head, "alright, thank you. your food will be here shortly."
