Chapter 5: studying? or dying?

It was surreal. One minute she was taking a nap in the school's music room, and the next minute, she was in her room.

"Definitely not a dream. More like a nightmare." Anzai shook her head as she felt the fang marks that the lovely shu sakamaki had left. It wasn't even twenty four hours and she had her very first fang mark, brilliant. There went months of training in the wild down the drain.

Suddenly, there was a rather loud knock coming from the door. Anzai was not in the mood to deal with Reiji's long grandmother tales or to even have to be in the same room to listen to him beating about the bush.

She stubbornly took the pillow and hurled it at the door, yelling at the same time for the person to get lost. Unfortunately, she was unaware that a certain albino vampire was behind the wooden door. Within seconds, the door flew open and there stood the youngest vampire with his arms folded.

"Running off before class starts and ordering me around. You got some nerve." He growled while giving off an intimidating aura. Curiosity prodded her along like a stick, why is subaru coming to see her at this time of the day? Still, he did look knee-trembling attractive to her.

"Why are you here subaru? It's not like you to visit me." She asked. She had expected him to smash his fist against the closest object in the room, but to her surprise, he sat down on her bed and turned to face the opposite direction. Her mouth was bone dry, she had never seen this side of him before, this is new.

"... we.. have a test coming up.. and.. I want to.. s.study with you. Not because I want to study with you or anything. I just want to pull my grades up. That's all." He muttered. His voice was barely audible, but she could make out what he was trying to say.

"Okay. I'll go get my books and we'll start." Her eyes glittered good-humouredly as she turned to get off the bed. Only to have felt a force on her wrist, as she spun around, she was surprised and shocked to see subaru staring right back at her with cheeks tinted light pink.

"Subaru? Anything wrong?"

"N..nothing. Thank- no wait.. it's nothing." He shrugged it off as he released her wrist. Anzai wasn't the kind to take strangers so kindly, yet there was something about subaru that made her feel.. normal.

"So here, carbon reacts with more coke to form carbon monoxide." She pointed to the diagram in the chemistry textbook. Subaru stared dumbfoundedly at the words printed in black and white, nothing made sense to him. Anzai caught a glimpse of him struggling and shut the chemistry textbook.

"Oi! Aren't we studying? Why'd you do that?" Subaru asked.

"Because at this rate your not getting anything in. Let's take a breather, we've been revising for an hour straight." Anzai shook her head as the rain hammered down like bullets from an iron-grey sky. All of a sudden, there was a flash of lightning.

Anzai... I have failed my duties as.... I love yo.. remem...ber.. this...

"ANZAI! ANZAI!" Subaru yelled while shaking her furiously.

"S..subaru?" Anzai opened her eyes which were clouded with tears.

"Your crying all of a sudden. What happened?" Subaru asked, concerned about what had just happened.

"I.. I don't know." She stuttered out a weak reply. And all of a sudden, she was embraced by two muscular arms. White bangs fell in synth with her own as she inhaled more of his scent. He remained silent throughout the entire time they hugged, she embraced him like there was no tomorrow. Suddenly, she felt her clothes shuffled and her neck was exposed.

"Tch.. who did this?" He examied the bite marks closely as he ran a finger through it. Anzai remained still, she didn't want anymore trouble with him. Nor did she want to hurt him, the tears just kept cascading down as voices rang through her mind...

I'm a monster.. I'm a disgrace... I..am...not.. worth living... I kill everyone in my path...

"Will you stop crying already? It pisses me off! Now I'm really in a bad mood, we're stoping here!" Subaru declared as he pushed her down on the carpeted floor. He took a second to glance at her face which gave him the adreneline rush to just destroy her on the spot.

"I'm going to.. destroy you if I can't control myself..." subaru panted heavily as he sank his fangs into her skin. He grunted as he shifted his body and continued draining her blood. As he released her, wiping trickles of blood along the edge of his mouth, he noticed that she was still crying.

"I said STOP CRYING!" He yelled as he punched the bedpost. Anzai suddenly felt a rush of emotions as she got up and wiped her face.

"I'm done. I'm out of here, if you need to study, go and look for reiji." She answered coldly as she left the room with subaru staring in shock.

What have I done. My prey has left.
