Dax and Maisy were literally my life. Everything revolved around my puppies.

"Dax, no!"

"Good girl, Mays."

"Come."

"Sit."

"No."

"Dax!"

"No."

"No..."

"No!"

Dax and Maisy were so different from each other. Maisy was really sweet; she was super affectionate and cuddly, which I loved. She was also extremely obedient, which I also loved. Mays was definitely a fast learner, and training her was turning out to be quite easy.

Dax, on the other hand, was a little shit.

He loved to chew on everything that he wasn't supposed to, and he never listened to anything I said on the first go. It usually took me quite a few tries to get him to do anything.

And in terms of house training my dogs? Maisy was doing really well and hardly had any accidents, but Dax... Let's just say that he wasn't doing so hot in that department.

"Mom, the dogs are in the kennel. I'm going to the store!" I called, closing the front door behind me, not bothering to wait for a response from her. It had been quite a while since my last trip to the store, and I needed more dog food.

I walked into the store with no problem from the automatic doors this time, and for some reason I expected Calum to be there to congratulate me... But he wasn't.

And it was a shame because I really would have liked to see him again. I had actually been thinking about him a lot-every time I fed my dogs, in fact. Feeding them reminded me of dog food, which reminded me of when I bought it, which then led to thoughts of the mysterious Calum who called me sweetheart and refused to help me unless he knew my name.

Seeing that Calum wasn't here to carry my dog food this time, I got a cart and wheeled it over to the puppy aisle, taking my time to look at everything on the shelves.

There had to be something to make Dax stop chewing and peeing on everything.

"Can I help you find anything?" I turned to see a tall boy with brown curly hair and dimples standing at the end of the aisle.

"Uh, yeah... I actually have a question." Maybe he could help me find something for Dax.

"Alright." The boy smiled and walked over to me, waiting for me to speak. His name tag said Ashton, and that made me think of Calum, too.

"Are you allergic to cats?" I blurted out, thinking that this had to be Calum's friend.

"I am." He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "Is that your question?"

"No..." I blushed and laughed with him, feeling my cheeks heat up. "I just saw your name tag and wanted to know if you were the Ashton that Calum had mentioned." I clarified, hoping that my question didn't seem so random now that I had explained my train of thought.

"You know Calum?" He asked, his eyes widening in surprise.

"Yeah. Well, I mean, kind of." I tried to explain, but was failing miserably. "I met him last time I was here... Why do you seem so surprised that I know him?" I asked, crouching down so I could see what was on the lower shelves.

"He just usually keeps to himself, and if he doesn't... Well he usually isn't very nice." He chuckled and crouched down beside me. "He's actually kind of a dick."
