School. It's torture I tell you. It gets more like jail by the day. Teachers say they will tech you if you're willing to learn. That you have to be willing to put in the effort. But then they go and pick favorites, leaving the outcast, the loner, treating them just as bad as the bullies around.
That's how my school is. I am so glad that the year is over. Finally some time away from this place.
As soon as the bell rang, Cindy was already up and out the door, all ready for the summer to start.
"Cindy!!" From down the hallway a girl with black hair and brown eyes called, running towards her. Her best friend Jessica Drew. At the sight of the taller girl that stood over the crowd, Cindy happily smiled and walked over to her waving her hand.
"Hey!!" The girl smiled, letting out a small sigh of relief. "I am so glad school is over. Now to months and half of freedom!" Cindy threw her hands up and laughed, happily smiling.
"Well someone's excited." The older girl laughed, wrapping her arm around the shorter girls shoulders. "Any plans for the summer?" Jessica tilted her head in curiosity, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't know. I'll have to ask mom." Cindy shrugged her shoulders, letting out a small sigh.
"Hey! I have been meaning to ask you something. Why do you always wear that necklace? It's cute.... But does it have any meaning?"
"I- I'm not sure. I found it a while back. I can't remember how I got it. But it feels like it's special..." Cindy glanced up at the taller girl, walking out of school. "You coming over today?"
"Yeah! I miss your Mom's cooking." The girl teasingly smiled, getting into her car. "You sure that's the only thing you miss?" Cindy childishly pouted, getting in the passenger seat.
"Nah... I miss everything about your place. My place sucks!" the girl chuckled and drove out of the school parking lot, leaving towards Cindy's house.
When they got there, Cindy walked inside with Jessica behind her, heading towards the kitchen. "Mom!! I'm home!" Cindy stopped when she saw her mom standing in the kitchen with a serious look on her face, talking into the phone.
Something's wrong. That was the first thought that Cindy had when she saw the look on her mom's face. "Mom?"
When her mom hung up the phone she looked at Cindy with a sad look on her fave. 'What's going on? Why is she looking at me like that?'
"W-What's wrong Mom?" Cindy slowly walked closer to her. By that time Jessica was looking at the two with a small frown on her face, letting out a small sigh.
"Honey... How do you feel about going to Carey, Ohio for the summer?"
"I... It's okay with me... What for?" Cindy oblivious as ever never bothered thinking of what might happen or what had happened.
"Um... Your Father has gone missing." The older woman said with a saddened expression, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"W-What!?" Cindy's eyes widened, not knowing what to say. For once she was speechless. The girls brain wracked with questions as she starred at her mother with questions. "B-But... W-"
Jessica suddenly grabbed the shocked girls arm, smiling towards the troubled woman. "I'll take her upstairs so she can rest." Jessica pilled Cindy up to her room letting out a small sigh.
"I'm sorry Cindy... Maybe you should rest. I'll be downstairs with your mom." Jessica flashed a reassuring smile towards Cindy before she walked out of the room sighing.
Cindy starred up at the ceiling. Her eyes as wide and a look of confusion was on her face.
One thing was on her mind.
'My Dad is alive?'
