Hey everyone, sorry it took me a while to post a new chapter, been kind of busy. Anyway, just to clear things up later on, euay is pronounced eUAy, with the e being silent, and the y making a long u and a sound. Thanks for reading, and don't forget to vote and comment.

Chapter 8) Obstacles

Eon rubbed his arms, trying unsuccessfully to warm them up. In order to avoid detection, the Timekeeper had told Goldenclaw to fly high up, above the clouds. For the past three hours, Eon had been repeatidly buffeted by the cold winds, and his fingers had already grown cold. Looking at the Timekeeper, wanting to see some of his own discomfort, he was dismayed to see that the Timekeeper was actually enjoying himself.

The bitter winds seemed to have no affect what so ever, as the Timekeeper joyfully lifted up his arms, hanging on to Goldenclaw only by his feet. Risking a look down, Eon regretted it moments later when he wasn't even able to see the ground far below. If he fell, there wouldn't be anything to stop it, besides packed earth below. Feeling his stew threatening to come out, he swallowed, and tried to focus on less gruesome things.

His thoughts wondered back and forth, still trying to make sense of everything he had learned, and seen. Sighing, he accepted the fact that until they got to where they had to go, everything would remain a jumbled mess. Hopefully who ever they were going to meet could do a better job of explaining things then the Timekeeper.

"How much further do we need to fly?" he yelled, struggling to be heard over the wind, and the beats of Goldenclaw's wings.

"It'll take us awhile, we will be lucky if we get half way by nightfall."

Eon sighed, it was going to be a long ride. They traveled on in silence, seconds stretching into minutes, and the minutes into hours.

Around noon they stopped by a small stream. Telling Goldenclaw to get a drink, and to take a short rest, the Timekeeper went to rummage for some food. Meanwhile Eon walked along the stream, grateful for it's coolness after the harsh heat of Aurora's suns. Taking of his shirt, he decided to lay on the cool water, hoping it would help with his sun burn. Closing his eyes, he lay there, enjoying the peaceful quietness, and refreshing water.

He was woken up by the crunch of walking feet, and opening his eyes saw the face of the Timekeeper looking at him with a strange expression. Before he could comment, it was quickly wiped away. Deciding that it probably wasn't even there in the first place, Eon stood up, and followed the Timekeeper to a small towel he had laid on the floor.

There in the middle of the red towel was a small wicker basket, with a bunch of berries. To the side, Eon recognized the fruit he had seen on that strange arc tree. Opposite it lay a good sized clear jug, filled with a clear liquid that Eon could only guess was water. Over all the lunch wasn't anything spectacular, but it was decent enough, and Eon's hunger left no room for pickiness.

No sooner had he sat down, that his stomach let out a loud rumble. Smiling, the Timekeeper sat across from him, and took out a small handle from inside his robes. Eon eyed the handle curiously, like everything else that the Timekeeper had, it was white, adorned with gold designs. The handle itself though had the texture of wood. Noticing that Eon was trying to see what it was, the Timekeeper passed him the handle.

Eon turned it every which way, trying to determine it's function. He randomly pressed on the golden strip that ran on top, and on the bottom of the handle, as well as a golden swirly, wave pattern on each side, but nothing happened. At least he had the satisfaction of seeing that he was right, the handle was made of wood, but it felt heavier, and denser then it should have. Giving up, he passed it to the Timekeeper.
