The little interaction between the couple caused Clove's expression to turn ugly.
Any outsider could tell how protective this man was toward Lisa...
Only Lisa who was in the thick of it all was oblivious to it!
Wasn't Sister Eunha supposed to be his childhood sweetheart?
Cloven was clearly unable to resign herself to her fate, so she called out in a low voice, "Brother Jeon..."
"We'll talk about whatever you want to bring up another time."
Jungkook interrupted Clove, his face calm and unshifting. His dark pupils were dim, and his gaze was distant. All these subtle forms of rejection caused Cloe to lose the courage to continue her sentence.
Jungkook lowered his head and spoke quietly to the woman in his arms, "Follow me home."
'Home?'
Jungkook called the place they lived in home...
Lisa did not have the time to think properly before her body automatically began moving with him toward the door.
Lisa's greatest strengths were that she could recognize and adapt quickly to her current situation and that she was very aware of her own limits.
If she were to continue to act up, then things might take a turn for the worse for her, so she instantly activated her obedient side.
The cunning and aloof man had played along with the three women in their over-the-top drama the whole night, hence he had to be somewhat frustrated.
He wanted to end the show, so he did not want to give anyone the chance for an encore.
After lifting his hand, he wrapped them around Lisa's shoulders in a protective manner and dragged her out of the side hall.
...
There was a small garden in the middle of the path that ran from the Upper Mansion to Hibiscus Garden. The placement of the shrubs and arbor were tasteful, and the pathway was paved with black and white pebbles. Even in the daytime, this winding and the tranquil path was a relaxing place to visit.
On this night, the soft and warm floor lamps were lit. The pathway was, quiet and pleasant, truly a romantic spot!
Unfortunately, the man and woman were annoyed at each other, and neither of them seemed to want to comfort the other.
Lisa had been held too tightly by Jungkook. This, coupled with her earlier venting and struggling caused her to feel a little hot at the moment.
"Let go!" Lisa objected, her tightly knitted brows proudly displaying her displeasure.
"Mrs. Jeon, please be nicer."
Jungkook's voice was not loud, and it could even be considered gentle, but he definitely was not ready to entertain this woman!
Lisa actually felt that his tone was slightly threatening.
He referring to her as Mrs. Jeon was a signal of danger!
"Isn't the woman with the nice attitude staying at Grandmother's place? Feel free to go and find her. I'm just a bedmate after all..."
Initially, she had wanted to give him the cold shoulder, acting as if she did not give a hoot about the whole situation.
However, the words that were spoken carried obvious unhappiness...
Lisa felt so aggrieved that she could cry!
After recalling the words she had overheard earlier, she became even more frustrated.
'I take you as my husband, yet you only view me as a bedmate...'
"So it's because of this..."There were traces of ridicule in Jungkook's voice.
The man who was initially already so handsome and refined seemed to appear even more dashing right now. He wasn't acting cool as he had in the Upper Mansion just now, right now, he was filled with tenderness.
'True enough, she had overheard what I said earlier!'
Smiling faintly, the coy and charming man used his deep voice to tease her ear. "What a foolish woman! "In ancient times, you wouldn't have been able to last three days in the competition for head-mistress within the palace!"
Lisa did not know whether a person like Jungkook would watch palace dramas, but he sure used a rather trendy way to criticize her intellect!
She was so pissed off that her face flushed red.
"Even if it's just a bedmate, it's a bedmate for life! Aren't you satisfied yet?" Jungkook suddenly kissed her ear and softly muttered.
Someone as proud as him was prepared to keep his promise for a lifetime!
It was just that he was not very articulate, and that his words did not seem that impressive – he even seemed to mention it a little too casually...
This man who had lived alone for almost half of his life and had previously been accustomed to her pursuing him... It must be difficult for him to humble himself and admit that he was willing to spend a lifetime with her.
Hence, the way he expressed his words was somewhat underwhelming...
However, when Lisa heard Jungkook's unbothered tone, she became even more certain that deep down in his heart, all her sufferings were only as temporary as a fleeting cloud.
Whether it was the ridicule and insults she had endured or the misfortune that the Mu Family had suffered, none of them seemed to matter to him!
