Chapter 5

Max POV

I push Luke behind me, seeing as Alpha Derrick was coming for me. I growled warning him not to come too close to me. He ignored me and continued to come closer to me. I inched back, trying not to get too close to him.

My dad decided to step in front of me. “Alpha Derrick, what’s the matter. Do you know my son?”

Alpha Derrick ignored him, and continued to advance toward me. I mind linked to Luke to run to his grandmother. Luke looked up at me. He shook his head.

“Daddy, I’m not leaving you.”

“You have no choice, now go!”

He look reluctant but, he move toward his grandmother. Now Alpha Derrick was in front of me, glaring me down. It sent shivers down my body. I had to snap out of it and put some distance between me and him.

I darted my eyes to the left and right to see if I can escape. There was some woods to my right, I took off to a sprint toward the woods, there was no way I was going to let him grab a hold of me. I could hear my name being called from behind me, but I ignored the calls and continued on my way.

I was dodging trees and fallen trees that were on the floor. I could hear the footsteps running behind me, and by the sound of those footsteps I could tell that they were getting closer to me. I put my head down and try to run faster. I looked up and I notice that there was less trees and more of a clearing coming up head. I started to slow down sniffing the area, forgetting about the footsteps that was behind me. I was smelling that strange smell again. This time it was so much stronger, like they were right behind me. I turned around, but there was no smell.

This unknown creature, was it following me. I put my nose and the air and took a big whiff, I could swear that the smell was coming behind me. I whipped myself around, but the only thing behind me was a mad Alpha Derrick. He couldn’t be the smell I was smelling, I would have smelled him why we were at the camp grounds. I took a step closer to Alpha Derrick, taking a big whiff of him. I was certain now that the smell was not him, it was also a big mistake to sniff him, I wanted to put my nose into his chest and sniff him all day.

I jumped back, realizing what I just did. I looked up to a now amused Alpha Derrick.

“Did you like what you was smelling that much, that you had to take a big whiff of me?”

Without answering him, I turned back around and started running again, I don’t know why I slowed down in the first place.  Even if it was for that smell, I should’ve handle the situation that was at hand instead of dealing with a new situation. I was still dodging trees and logs, when I was attack from behind, I could feel arms snake around my waist. My face and the ground was coming in contact real fast, I didn’t have time to shield my face. I close my eyes waiting for the impact. I landed on something hard and warm, I knew it wasn’t the ground because the ground was hard and cold, and I probably would have skidded a little before coming to a stop.

I open my eyes, only to find a chest come into my vision. I sat up really quickly.

“Oh gosh, are you okay, did I hurt you Alpha Derrick.” I said in a panic voice, checking for any injuries that I might’ve caused from the fall.
