Book: Basic Instinct, Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Chapter 18: The Master's Bones
Word Count: 2377It was the next night and Alec was just leaving the Bronze when he saw Buffy in the alley way. He had skipped school that day because he was still angry and he didn't particularly want to see her but before he could walk away she spotted him.
"Y'know, being stalked isn't really a big turn-on for girls." She said and he scoffed. "I wasn't stalking you. I was in the Bronze drinking with Angel." He replied.
"You? Were drinking with Angel?" She said with shock. "He's not so bad when he's had a few." He mumbled. "What are you even doing here?"
"She's going after the vampires. They took Cordelia." Angel said, coming up behind him. "Giles just called to tell me. He's not happy you are ignoring his phone calls by the way." He looked at Buffy. "You need help. Someone to watch your back."
"Sure you don't mean my neck?" Buffy said with a head tilt. "Why are you ridin' me?" Angel snapped at her.
"Because I don't trust you. You're a vampire." Angel gave her a look. "Oh, I'm sorry, was that an offensive term? Should I say 'undead American'?"
"He's a vampire and I'm a werewolf. Does that mean you don't trust me?" Alec questioned with a tense body. She looked at him and shook her head. "I don't have time for this." She said.
"You have to trust someone. You can't do this alone." Angel said. "I trust me." Buffy shrugged. "You're not as strong as you think, Buff." Alec said condescendingly.
Buffy gave him a challenging look and approached him. "You think you can take me?" She said slowly. "What?" He said with a shake of his head.
"Oh, c'mon! I mean, you must've thought about it. What would happen if it ever came down to a fight, you werewolf, me the Slayer, I mean, you must've wondered! Well, why don't we find out?" She had a completely serious look in her eyes.
Alec exchanged a glance with Angel who looked equally as confused. "You really think I'm going to fight you?" He said with disbelief. "Come on! Kick my ass!" She said quietly, her lips inches away from his.
This position would usually be something he loved but the last thing on his mind was kissing her. She was just pissing him off. He took a step away from her with a hard glare. "Are there vampires to kill or would you rather stand here and waste time with me?"
She gave him an equally hard look back. "Just stay out of my way." She walked around to the entrance of the building next to the Bronze. "Happy to oblige." Angel said.
"As much as she is pissing me off at the moment, I'm not going to let her get hurt." Alec muttered annoyed and followed after her. He could sense Angel following as well. They came to a stop behind her and Alec saw a girl crying in the corner.
"That's not Cordelia." Buffy said. The girl on the ground stopped crying and starting laughing, turning around to show her vampire face. "Cordelia couldn't make it." She said evilly.
