Yangyang's POV
Every two years or so, my family always lead a huge elegant party for our friends from all around the world.
Well, as a kid that always have been isolated, these events always scare me. But I need to participate and show up to people.
My father said that I can play with the other kids, but barely speak in my language. So I will always be on the side, slowly waiting for these nights to pass by.
Until The Huang and the Xiao family started to bring their children on these parties too. Ever since, we are friends. And while we are slowly knowing about eachother's families, the more curious we have become.
When we were around 12, Guanheng and Xiaojun begged their parents to let them have a sleep over in my house. We were so happy when they said yes.
We played all night, we talked and talked until no words were left.
"Should we go outside?" Young Guanheng suggested.
"No, we might get caught!" Yangyang exclaimed.
"Then what should we do now I'm getting bored." Guanheng replied.
"Sleep maybe? It's past midnight." Xiaojun said in a sassy way.
I do not know what went in my head that day, maybe I don't want them to be bored so I suggested to go in there. I rise up the bed and said.
"We have this room in the house that I have never gone into, should we check it out?" Yangyang said to the three.
"Yes!" Guanheng's eyes lit up.
"Sure... If you guys want to go then I'll go."
The three of us in our little pajamas creaked open the dark room with light only coming from Xiaojun's tiny game console.
"Yangyang are you sure you can go in here? I think we should go back to your room." Xiaojun said.
Guanheng scoffed at Xiaojun and continued to gaze around the room.
"Whoa a chest! Yangyang open it!"
We three opened the chest together and it is filled with silver and gold goblets.
Xiaojun shined the light on the other side of the room. There is a huge scroll, it's got drawings and texts.
All of us can't comprehend the words well yet so we just focused on the pictures.
"Robe? 13 man... Goblets!" Guanheng tried to interpret the drawings.
"No it's juice! or alcohol?" Yangyang said.
Xiaojun rolled his eyes, "Don't you see it? It's like a manual... like a recipe."
"Hey Yangyang unroll it more." Xiaojun demanded
"Slit the throat... watch it flow... catch the precious blood... uhhh... with goblet... drink in unison?..." Guanheng read.
We all felt terrified when we saw the illustration as we tried to read what's in the scroll.
It was a man's head with it's throat slid open. It may not be that detailed of an illustrating but it is surely terrifying for 12 year olds.
We put everything back in place as fast as possible and ran back the room terrified, deeply traumatized.
"So... you think my brother's blood would be feasted by 13 people tomorrow?" Sicheng chuckled in disbelief, "He is not even here." Sicheng bust out laughing.
The three were remained silent as the other laughed.
"So maybe it's you and not your brother." Xiaojun said.
Sicheng's laugh slowly faded and his face turned straight.
