11:45am, Tuesday.

My eyes glided pavement below me. Looking through the bus window, I could see the minuscule details. It's funny how sometimes i can see everything in perfect detail, and then some days my eyes are always blurry.

My gaze slowed as I focused on a miniature ant. It's movements were rapid and uncertain, which left an unsettled feeling under my s/c skin and sending a shiver up my spine, itching in my back. One moment, I was watching it run around, stopping randomly at anything that peaked its interest, while the next I was watching it being squashed by a cyclist.

Suddenly, the bus engine picked up and we were moving once again, shortly after more passengers scrambled onto the public transportation.

At one point, everything stopped moving and then, just like that, everything went back to normal. Just another squashed insect on the footpath.

Funny how life can just stop.

A smooth rock song played over my headphones, my eyes greedily taking in my surroundings.

The city was so grey, so basic. How do people not get bored?

I looked up, the bus was slowing as it approached the university stop. Gathering my belongings and my bag, which was littered with pronoun and pride flag badges, I stood against the motion of the the bus halting, tripping over my feet as I walked down the aisle.

Exiting the city transit, I shoved my phone in my pocket, looking up in order to immediately bump into another students shoulder. Stumbling, they caught my wrists before I could tumble onto the road in front of the now leaving bus.

"Holy shit, are you alright?" They asked, deep brown eyes meeting my own. They had dropped a couple files on the floor when the caught me, so I knelt down and picked up the organiser binders.

I smiled when my e/c eyes met their gaze one more. "Here," I said, pushing their class work back into their possession. "I'm alright, thanks to you, but I don't won't to be late to class," I stopped to look around, "and I think you missed the bus."

The alarmed stranger in front of me whipped their head around only to see the bus disappearing into the traffic much further up the road.

I mumbled a goodbye, giving one last smile and thank you's, making haste in the direction of my ancient history lecture.
