The rest of the week whizzed by and before long I was old news. There was hardly anyone who didn't know what happened Monday morning but I'd decided to get over it.
Since my life is one big drama, my new problem was the party. This would be my second high school party - ever. Since Lily sort of forced me into this when I was in a very vulnerable state, I'm now her responsibility.
In other words, I'm going to her house to change before the party.
After last period, I rushed to the lockers before waiting for Lily in the school parking lot.
Since I'm one of the coolest people around nowadays, I lean against her red Honda Civic and play candy crush saga. I'm just about to start a new level when I see the lights on the car flashing and spin around to face.
" Hey, sorry about this. Mrs Heath let us out ten minutes late because some idiot needed to finish his test," she explained.
" Oh, doesn't matter. I only got here five minutes ago anyway," I say as I get in the car, " how was your day other than that?"
After we buckle up, Lily rants about the cute guy in her technology class and I zone out about twenty minutes into the conversation. I look out the window and watch the world pass by.
Ugh, so dreary. I wish my life was more exciting. Lily soon parks in the driveway of her house, let me rephrase that, mansion.
" Yo, girl, did you get any of that? Anything?" She questions.
I scratch the back of my neck and turn my gaze down to my lap in order to miss her death glare.
" Uh, yeah. That guy - Michael was it - gave you his number in class today and you're really excited because he's been your new crush? " I say, gathering the courage to glance at her a few times.
She raises an eyebrow but grins which shows me that I've pretty much summarised it but she's onto me.
Before she can question me further, I hop out of her car and punch my fist in the air secretly.
I follow Lily up the steps and watch as she unlocks the door with her key before trailing after her.
I run up to her bedroom and flop down on her massive bed while she brings up some pot noodles from downstairs.
" Hey, I could only find this flavour so here you are! " she chirps, passing me the pot.
" Yum, " I say as I start scarfing down the noodles.
What, I wasn't going to just sit there while the delicious aroma wafts around the room! Besides, it tastes better hot.
I look over at Lily who is sat in her hot pink swivel chair biting her lip to hold in the laughter.
I watch her and roll my eyes when I see that hers is already going cold on her desk.
" Well, " she says breaking the comfortable silence, " we better start getting our outfits together since we only have two hours left."
I almost choke on my noodles. " Only? Only two hours?" I snort. " Just give me twenty minutes and I'll be done! "
" No, " she says on a firm tone, " we are going to a party and we're gonna look amazing - hair, make up and all."
" W-what? Make-up? Hair? I thought you were gonna lend me your skinny jeans and that band top I love! " I stammer.
" No. I just needed to say that to get you here. You are going to love what I actually got you! " she squeals with an excited grin on her face.
"Nuh uh." I said making a run for the door but just before I turn the handle Lily replies.
" There's no point. I locked the door." She laughs spinning the keys on her fingers.
I give her my best glare before launching myself on her. I give her a massive bear hug.
Bear hug? Yes, a bear hug.
"Any last words?" I question her
" Crap! " she says weakly.
" That's good enough for me! " I say snatching the keys. I'm just about to storm off in a rage when I hear a few murmurs and sniffles in the distance.
" If you won't do it for me, can you do it for yourself? You deserve a great life so get it while you can." She says looking at me with puppy dog eyes and a childish pout.
" Ok, that was so cheesy, I could almost smell it." I giggle.
" Does that mean you'll do it?! " she exclaims happily, pulling me in for yet another hug.
" Yes, " I sigh plopping down onto the chair, " Go light on the make-up though, ok?"
" Ok! " she agrees, already looking through her wardrobe.
The things I do for friendship.....
I sit and observe Lily as she throws clothes after clothes on the bed.
I swear you could find freaking Narnia back there.
Finally she pulls out a purple strapless dress adorned with fake crystals around the chest area and a silver belt that goes round the cinched waistline. I also see that it's slightly longer at the back though most of the dress hangs just above the knee.
Simple but classy.
" Woah. I think it's too gorgeous for me to wear. " I blurt out before I can help it.
" Nonsense, I knew you would like it," she smirks at that point, " you've got great legs and you need to show them more. Now, let's do your makeup so we don't ruin it."
I sit on the plush chair in front of the mirror as instructed while she gets her stuff ready.
After half an hour or so you wouldn't recognise me. Lily had lightly applied some foundation, mascara, my lips were just glossed up, I had some gradient purple eyeshadow on my eyelids and my hair was curled.
I was lost for words so Lily broke the silence once more.
" You can thank me later now move your big butt so I can do mine! " she said with a full smile on her face. " Go change in the bathroom but be quick please. "
I grabbed the dress on the hanger and brought it into her en-suite as I changed. Lily followed a fifteen minutes later.
Unlike me, she had straightened her hair and was wearing a sparkly red dress that had three-quarter length sleeves and reached mid thigh. It flowed outwards from the waist and had one strap.
Basically, we both looked like goddesses - if I must say so myself.
I paired my dress with silver wedges and a small purple bag while she wore red heels and a golden clutch.
We looked at ourselves on the mirror and posed while complimenting and gushing.
" Let's knock 'em dead! " I said with my newly found confidence and with that we made our way outside to her car.
" This is going to be one hell of a party with us around " she commented while I carried on giggling madly beside her.
Needless to say I was very excited.
