Another day, another wonderful day. Note the sarcasm. My dad called me from downstairs, making me groan in annoyance. Don't get me wrong, I love my dad, but he can get to be a bit much.

"Holly! Come downstairs! There is a letter for you!" My dad yelled again.

"Coming!" I yelled back.

I slipped out of bed and walked downstairs, still in my pajamas, and looked for my dad who was in the kitchen, standing at the island.

"What's the letter?" I asked looking at the letter addressed to me in his hand. He shrugged and handed me the letter I read the envelope and gasped.

Holly. M. Cobbern
Second Largest Bedroom
723, Copper Road, London

"How do they know what room I'm in?" I asked no one in particular. I opened the letter and read the first line,

Miss Holly. M. Cobbern, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

I started laughing hysterically, showing my dad the letter.

"Dad look at this rubbish! Me? Witchcraft and Wizardry? Ridiculous," I said. I looked back at my dad and saw him with a guilty expression on his face.

"Dad, what's wrong?" I asked, getting worried. He sighed and shook his head, hesitating before answering.

"Look, Holly, there is something I need to tell you," He started, taking a deep breath before sitting down and finishing his thought. "Your mother was a witch," He said. I looked at him with shock.

"What?" I whispered, not believing what he said. He sighed again and ran a hand through his thick, dark, wavy hair. His brown eyes that matched mine held guilt, sadness, and regret in them.

"Holly, your mother was a witch. I knew from the moment you were born that you were the same. We were going to tell you last year but then Lizzy got put into the hospital with her cancer. When she died, I decided that I was going to wait until you felt like yourself again," He explained. He was talking in a normal voice until he mentioned my mum. Then his voice died down to a whisper.

"Oh," I said, not having anything else to say. We sat there in silence, not bothering to try and lighten the depressed mood we had created.

After about 10 minutes I stood up from my chair and spoke, but my words didn't seem to want to leave my mouth. "I'm going to my room. I need to try and process this," I spoke in a dull whisper.

Before I could get an answer from my dad, I left the room heading back to my room. When I got there, I stood in front of my mirror looking at my reflection.

I saw my dark auburn, wavy hair, and porcelain skin through my brown eyes that were filled with tears that made it look like I was looking in a kaleidoscope.

I looked at the picture on my dresser, remembering the day we took it.

Blue skies without a cloud in sight. The chilled air nipped at my nose and ears as I ran around the open park, stepping on colored leaves that crunched with every step I took.

"I'm coming for you Holly!" A cheerful voice with a certain softness that could melt the coldest of hearts called from behind me. I glanced behind me and saw a beautiful women with long blonde hair that flowed behind her and smooth olive skin. Her green eyes sparkled in the light of the sun and happiness of her small family. My mum, Lizzy Cobbern.

I laughed and started running faster. She eventually caught up to me and picked me up, tickling me as she brought me back to my dad. My high pitched laughter caught my dads attention.
