As time passed and the 5 Marauders became closer and closer, many pranks were done and havoc reeked. James was still pinning over Lily but it didn't seem to be as much as the previous years.
As years passed, Holly suppressed her liking for James until she could barley feel it. Although, at times he would still cause her stomach to get butterflies and her heart to run a marathon.
In second year, the other 4 marauders found out about Remus's "furry little problem." Holly had figured it out in 1st year. They supported him in anyway they could. This included them working for months to achieve the dangerous task of becoming animagi. At the end of 4th year, they succeeded. Sirius was a big, black, German shepherd, James was a big stag, Peter is a rat, and Holly is a mountain lion.
When the full moon came, Peter ran and pressed the knot on the trunk of the whomping widow. Sirius and I would transform and run into the opening of the tunnel that led to the shrieking shack. James would walk through the tunnel as a human and transform when we got to the shack.
When the transformations were over, we would heal him as much as we could and take him to the hospital wing.
________
We had just finished out O.W.L's and the 5 of us were sitting by the willow tree in front of the Black Lake. Remus was reading a book, I was talking to Peter, and James and Sirius were screwing around with a snitch James had nicked from the Quidditch pitch.
"I wish it was a full moon, I'm bored," Sirius said suddenly, sitting down by me. I looked at him with wide eyes, knowing what happened to Remus.
"I don't," Remus said darkly. I glanced over at him apologetically and he looked at me with a sad expression and went back to his book.
"I'm also bored," James said. He had started letting go of the snitch, letting it fly a few feet before snatching it right back. I, too, was bored and looked over to the dock where I noticed my female friends sitting with their feet dangling in the water.
"If you excuse me, I am going to go entertain myself with the girls," I sad standing up. As I was walking, I heard James call out from behind me.
"Say hi to my Lily-flower for me will you?"
I threw my head back and laughed, ignoring the sting his words had. When I got close to the end of the dock where my friends were sitting I cleared my throat and said, "Room for one more?"
The girls shrieked and Marlene fell into the lake, causing us all to burst out laughing as she swam to the ladder off the dock.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you," I said in between laughs.
"Yeah, yeah," Marlene muttered. I took off my shoes and socks sat down next to Lily.
"James says hi," I said with a knowing glance her direction. She huffed and rolled her eyes.
"Of course he does. When will he realize I'm not interested. I'd rather date a grindylow," She said. Dorcas, who was sitting next to her, looked at her with a look of amusement and concern, making my chuckle quietly.
We continued with our conversation, which mainly consisted of us laughing at Marlene who kept complaining about how wet and cold she was.
I heard laughter behind me and turned around to see what was happening. I felt my face pale and my anger rise at what I was witnessing.
"Um, Lily, I'm going to go. I should be back soon," I said. I could tell that Lily was concerned with the tone my voice was in. I stood up and walked off the dock, not bothering to put my shoes on.
