I walked home from school, thinking, "Why? Why does the Earth even exist? What is the meaning of life?"
Life is like a leaf in Autumn. Going too far can crush them. Such as stepping on the leaf, or bullying a kid, causing them to commit suicide. One gentle, soft touch, can instantly crush them. And there's no fixing it. What's done is done.
I took off my shoes and placed them next to the doormat before I walked through the door. My parents were still working, of course, and my older sister, Michelle, was smoking weed in her room. I can smell it as soon as I walk in, it's a foul, yet familiar smell. Our parents don't give a fuck about what happens to us. We were mistakes, never meant to be born.
I walked into my room and plopped onto the bed, my phone in my hand.
"I should text Irene," I think to myself. I text to her, "Hey do you think I could also go to the sleepover?"
I waited for a couple of minutes until she finally replies with, "Umm no sorry my mom said no."
Oh, ok then. Guess I'm all alone this weekend again. Not that it really matters or anything. Life is so boring. Nothing matters to me anymore and my life is so dull.
I don't want to die, but I don't want to live like this. I want to run away, and feel free.
The next day, I saw Ruby and Irene hanging out and socializing with Willow. They were braiding hair. The only difference this time was that when they saw me, they turned away and kept laughing and chatting with Heather and Willow.
I walked to my home room, in hopes that they'd follow me. They didn't. Instead, I was greeted by a lovely little note in my desk that says, "Go fucking kill yourself lmao your useless you bitch" Ouch. They really thought that stung me. Wow, they don't understand how much I can withstand.
After two weeks, Irene and Ruby stopped talking to me completely and only hung out with that toxic little friend group. I hope their futures go well, without me. Our friendship was a waste of time I guess. I don't understand what I did to deserve this, but whatever. Irene started writing death threats in Sharpie on my desk. I always chuckle to myself when I see that, because I think, "If you want me dead so bad, then kill me yourself." Ruby writes bad things about me online and she slaps me when she sees me in the bathroom occasionally. The entire group starts rumors about me that I don't even bother to listen to.
As I was about to sit down at the lunch table, I heard giggling from behind me. I suspected that something was off. I set my food tray on the table and gently sat at the table. I felt a sharp pain pierce into my thighs. I couldn't get up. I look down at my legs and realize, "Oh shit. They're rusty nails, I'm fucking sitting on rusty nails and I can't get up!"
Laughing erupted from all around me as people gathered near me and pointed at me. I was bleeding out of my legs and no one was helping me, until I heard loud footsteps coming from across the cafeteria.
A boy with striking features, who was out of breath, tore an earbud out and said,
"H-hey! What happened? Are you ok?""N-no I'm not ok," I say, while blood runs down my legs, "please help me. I'm stuck to t-these nails." The boy looks down at the tile floor, blood pooling at my feet, soaking my white shoes.
"Alright, you'll be fine, my name is Lucas," He said, walking behind me and linking his arms with mine," And I'm going to pull you up in 1, 2, 3!" I inhaled sharply as he swiftly pulled me up from the blood drenched bench, his warm arms strongly wrapped around me. "Lilac," I thought to myself, "This is not the time to be thinking about how hot he is, I literally could've died if he wasn't aware of the situation."
The crowd quieted down as they saw me being carried, covered in blood by Lucas. Lucas ran to the school office, where he called 911 and waited with me for an ambulance.
"Thank you f-for saving me, Lucas," I said, still trembling from the blood loss.
"No need to thank me, I saw you bleeding out and I didn't notice until I heard a crowd of people laughing manically.'
I giggled and looked into his eyes, they were an emerald green color. It reminded me of a forest, like in my dreams. I could tell that he was starting to get nervous because he ran his hand through his fluffy brown hair, so I stopped staring, I didn't want to make him uncomfortable.
"Oh, I just realized," Lucas said, "I didn't happen to catch your name. What was it again?"
"L-lilac," I said, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear shyly.
Whilst we were talking, we heard sirens blaring outside. The ambulance showed up and Lucas picked me up like a princess to put me on the stretcher. The emergency workers lifted me into the back and right before they closed the ambulance doors, Lucas hopped in the back with me.
"Get out of here kid!" The driver yelled.
"No," Lucas said, "I'm staying with her."
