After the Chimera Ant tragedy or whatsoever, Nen started to upgrade itself and appear in another form which people called 'Quirks'.
*INSERT EXPLANATION OF 'QUIRK' FROM IZUKU'S "HERO NOTES VOL.1"*
(For those who don't know or remember it, here! Others can skip....)

-

Quirks are superhuman powers that each individual possesses. The first quirk was the light-giving baby, who was born with his quirk active. Quirks aren't exclusive to humans only. In extremely rare cases, Quirks are also manifested in animals.Although most people have a Quirk, there are also those who possess none. At the same time, there are also those who, by some means, possess more than one Quirk. Quirkless is the term that is used to refer to someone who was born without any superpowers. The condition of having a double-jointed toe has been linked to being Quirkless

Then, it slowly started to expand its territory and occupied the whole word population leaving only 20% of them behind. These 20%, also classified as the 'quirkless people', was never able to live more than 15 years of age. They either Died of depression, bullying, hate, neglect, murder or other hopeless reasons. Some even comit suicide in hope of having a QUIRK and be considered in their next life.... Society had messed up way more than it should have.

Nen wasn't the only thing that had been forgotten, hunters had been too. But a few of them lived long.... How?....Well, let's just say that a person's nen had made them immortals and had affected their living families. They had no choice but to kill the poor person with this nen for the sake of the society.
Gon Freeces and his cru- ahem- best friend Killua Zoldyck, Kurapika Kurta and Leorio Paladinight. They were the ones who had been affected. But the nen wouldn't allow it that way. It effected the other Zoldycks, 2 living Freeces and apparently, a wizard clown from the Morrow family....
